Poll: Should secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld step down or be fired
In the wake of the Iraqi detainee mistreatment should Rumsfeld...
(A) Resign. (B) Be fired. (C) Be forced to join the military then fight in Iraq for 12 months to see how war really feels. |
I don't think Rumsfeld should step down for the detainee mistreatment. That would be like forcing Cohen to step down for the rape in Japan.
However, he should resigned for his handling of report on the detainee and his handling of post-war Iraqi in general. |
The word coming down the pipe is that the worst is yet to come.... even more disturbing pictures, as well as top brass personel in the arm forces knowing about this the whole time. There's even talk that this can of torture has been happening to detainees not just in Iraq but elsewhere.

Seymour Hersh a writer @ The new Yorker magazine states that it was Donald Rumsfeeld himself who can up w/ this program to abuse the detainees in order to get more information from them. The story will appear this Monday in The New Yorker magazine, Rumsfeld's PR people are saying that the story is flawed.

I don't think Rummy will be shown the door unless Dubya's poll numbers are way down close to the election.
|
Rumsfeld is part of the group (along with Cheney) that shores up GWB with the right wing base. ....dude ain't goin nowhere.
...now whether he should or not is a completely different question. the latest CNN/Time poll had G "Dub" at 46 percent approval. no modern-era president with numbers that low at this point in an election year has gotten to keep the long black limo, and the personal Hail to the chief anthem for an additional four years. |
