Food fundraisers (not bakesales)
 

Okay, so most people agree that bake sales don't provide much profit. And honestly, most people won't buy. My SAI chapter however has sold more creative food things and made good profits:

--Soup and sandwich sale. We had about 5 kinds of soup, and offered ham and cheese or turkey and cheese sandwiches. We sold each for $2 each. It worked GREAT because busy music students (we did it in the Fine Arts building) who rarely have a lunch break were greatful for real food they could eat on the way to their classes!

--Chili sales do REALLY well, at least here in the south. Offer chili, Fritos, crackers, and cheese. Sell chili for $2 or a Frito Pie for $3. People WILL buy!

--Milk and cookies sale. Offer 3 cookies and a small cup of milk for $1. Cheap, yummy, and goes over well.

--If someone has a sandwich maker or a George Foreman grill, sell grilled cheese sandwiches!

Any other ideas?

We had a pizza sale a few years ago. I can't remember the name of the company we ordered them from (but I can find out) and we did very well with it. And the best part was that the pizzas were delicious....I know a lot of people that were disappointed we didn't do it the next year.

Spaghetti

Chicken and Waffles

Right on with the spaghetti dinner! A lot of chapters will do this on Friday nights, because most houses don't serve dinner on Fridays.

Chili suppers are good, too. Phi Mu Alpha did one last semester, conviniently right after marching band when we were all starving (marching band gets out at 5pm). :D

Alpha Gamma Delta at the University of Central Oklahoma does Oodles of Noodles each year -- they sell all you can eat spaghetti for $5.00 per person. They usually have some sort of entertainment on hand.

I think that's the only type of food fundraiser at Central OK.

Coffee and danishes in the mornings
Chili cookoff
Chocolate tasting
Two words: Krispy Kreme :)

My chapter didn't do this, but another group I'm in sold bottled water to singers that were here for auditions. You know singers and their water...we did well, needless to say.

A fraternity and sorority with houses next to each other on campus just held a joint grill-off. Teams paid to enter and then anyone could come and pay to eat. I was busy and couldn't go to it, but wish I could've. It goes along great with the spingtime!

Restaurants
 

Check out the popular restaurants in your area - many have programs where they will donate a percentage of your bill to the charity or organization of your choice. Or you can ask them if htey would be willing to host an event for charity or donate a percentage just for your org or for all greek sin the community.

Panera has a great program, called "Operation Dough-Nation" or "Dough for Funds"

This is an idea from the Melbourne Alumnae Panhellenic - A local cheescake vendor was contacted, order forms were prepared, marketing was conducted, and the cheesecakes were delivered to the April meeting, labeled for each buyer. This APH earned $4 for each cheesecake sold, with "very little work on our part."
This could be done with any other food or flowering items.

From 6-9 anyone who said they were there to support Alpha Phi helped raise money for Cardiac Care. They invited their friends, other greeks, and the campus community. 25% of all profits went to the organization.


ETA: The girls raised over $100 by eating ice cream and inviting others out to join them for the cause.

I was wondering if any groups were required to get approval from the local Health Department?

What kind of Risk Management precautions in case someone gets food poisoning, etc,:confused:
