Innovative Rush Events
 

we're finalizing our rush calendar right now and we're looking for some new and fun events.

I did a search in the general rush forum, but had no luck. maybe my bros can be of some assistance.

we already do an oyster roast with a sorority, a grab-a-date tailgate for the first football game of the year, a smoker & poker night, broomball/minor league baseball/3-on-3 basketball and some other run of the mill events.

We're looking for 25 pledges this semester, so we'll take all the suggestions you guys have to offer

A golfing event of some sort, even if its just inviting a bunch of guys to go golfing can be a good thing. If they guys know how to play golf there is a good chance they are well off enought to affort fraternity life.
Karaoke night. It is a good ice breaker and you would believe how many people like to get up and sing.

Might I suggest getting a bunch of red carnation'sand handing them out to girls on campus saying with compliments from the brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon. The freshman guys may be impressed but most important the girls will be and if they have a bf they might suggest he rush TKE.

I asked my Teke, he said, "Get your hottest 'girls who support TKE'etc to have a jello-wrestling contest. Give Rushees tokens for bets on the girls, whoever wins gets to wrestle the girl and win. Largest pledge class on campus instantly."

We did this for spring rush, which was also during Valentines Day, everywhere you looked were girls with Red Carnations with a heart on it that said happy V-day from the Brothers of TKE.

The girls loved them, and the guys took notice. VERY successful!

and on the "jello wrestling" note: wrestling events (pudding, close slaw, jello, KY) were outlawed by IFC here at NCSU because it sends the wrong message to rushees. as were fight nights, but the issue was safety.
