The book Pledged

I dont know if anyone else has read the book but is horrible!!!!
She even gives away password yes i said our password. I think we should try to do something about this. I cant believe someone is writing this stuff about our sororities. She is taking away a part of our traditions to make money. If you havent read this book u might want to because your secret might have been told too.

I'm confused...why are you saying "your secret might have been told too" if you're talking about the DPE password in the DPE forum?

I would like to remind everyone that this is a public forum and in order to protect the integrity of our ritual, we should not be confirming or denying anything revealed, no matter the source.

Thank you!

I wasnt saying is this or isnt your password. The point is that some non greek is out there telling people what she thinks our password is and other sororities also. And yes we are is the book and there is nothing nice in it about us. She tries to say the dphie's mascot is a blue lion. She talks about rituals like there are nothing. It horrible that rushees will read this book and think its all true.

Nobody is asking for whatever Ms. Robbins thinks our password is to be published. My question, and that of other D Phi E's on the board is if it is REALLY our password. Ms. Robbins has been the source of much misinformation, and if this is another case of that, I'm not too worried.

People are always going to have problems with Greeks and try to stir up trouble. I am going to order this book out of my own curiosity. I think that many people are going to Rush regardless of what rumors they hear about any organization, not only D*Phi*E. I think that once new members get to know that the women do not live up to what some random person wrote in a book, they will want to join the organization. I read several reviews of the book on amazon.com and one person wrote something which struck me greatly--that these are the "views" of someone in their late 20's going in and writing about basically what goes on on college campuses everyday with that age group (18-21). I am 28 and I look at this age group more critically at times, forgetting that not so very long ago I was doing the same things, and it had nothing to do with the fact that I was in a sorority. It comes down to the fact that we always have a choice in life to behave how we do. D*Phi*E has nothing to do with our decisions, if anything, being a member should make us more concious of how we act. I think that many things this woman wrote about affect all women regardless of if they are in a sorority are not. I know when I was in undergrad we knew that people would associate us with our letters so we did all we could to promote a positive image of the organization. I'd have to say that many women I observed who were behaving negatively in whatever way were NOT in a Greek-letter organization. It's like anything else in life, people who are not part of a particular organization whatever it is, will always be critical of it. Take the military for example~~~Allison

If you would like to contact me offline (those who know me) please feel free to do so to ask questions. I know what you're asking and would be willing to discuss with you, but again, we should not be PUBLICLY confirming or denying anything.
