We hold our elections in the fall. I currently have too many positions lol. I am Assistant Recruitment Director, Collegiate Alumna Laison (CAL for short), Greek Council Rep, Panhel Alternate, Fundraising and Social chair.

In the fall I plan on running for Vice President, possiably Recruitment Director, and Fundraising.

I know that you are worried that your friend is running for the same position. But don't the chapter will decided who the best person is. I think you should still run for the position and if she is a true friend she would also want you to run as well.

Me and some of my close sisters have ran for the same position and things alway turn out fine.

So don't worry about. You never know if you don't try (some good advice that I received recently).

Good luck and let us know if you got the position.

For next year I was elected as Sisterhood Development Chair (mainly new member education), Homecoming Chair, Social Chair, and Panhel Rep.. I'm gonna be a busy, busy girl! But I'm really excited for our chapter for next semester, I can't wait! :)

Congratulations to everyone on their positions!

We had our chapter elections this past weekend and I was elected Dean of Intake and Recording Secretary. I did not plan on holding two offices simultaneously, however, I am up for the challenge. I told my sisters I came to the sorority to work, and they have put me to work. IotaLand is a very busy place indeed!lol:D

starburst, congratulations on Alum Chair!:cool:

It is usually given way down the listings of Officerships. Why? Because so few Actives realize how important a position it really it!

Alums can and will be the life blood of a Chapter. Just stop and think of that for a moment!

Who does the Chapter go to in time of need? Who does the Chapter call if there is a problem? What if you want to get Money to retro a House or build a new one, not the actives as they are not rich or even money comfortable these days.

I as an Alum have been working for 4 years to build up our email and address changes. I am finally getting through to some, LET ME KNOW or you will once again be lost!

Ex: had an Alum call me and said He was not getting updates! Why I asked, well, He changed Emails and did not notify anyone or me! Da!

The most important Officerships to me are:

Tresasure=Money to the Chapter from Actives.

Alum= Live conections

Social=well that says it all

While not an Officer;

House Manager=trying to keep the House Presentable! More so In Fraternitys.

As Alum Chair, you can work your rear off and no one but the Alums will appreciate it more!:)

In the two yrs I've been a Sig, I've been elected as

*Secretary (Fall 04)
*Webmaster (Until I graduate)
*Social Chair (Fall 03, Spring 04)
*Alumni Chair (Spring 03 - Spring 04)
*Philanthropy Chair (Fall 03, Spring 04)
*Scholarship Chair (Fall 02, Fall 03)
*Greek Week Chair (Spring 03)
*Pledge Educator (Fall 02)

That's what happens when you only have 20 guys on an average size 50-60 campus, and most of the 20 don't give a shiet...

Last year I was Dean of Pledgees, Public Relations Chair, and Sargent at Arms.

This year I am Supervising the Dean of Pledgees, and I am again PR Chair. I am looking forward to my last year as an undergrad.

I'm so happy to report that I recently got elected and installed as my chapter's new President!!! :D

ACTDXDeltaDeut 05-10-2004 07:03 PM

I recently have been elected as the House Manager and Post Officer of my Charge.

TexasOphiA 05-11-2004 02:52 AM

I am finishing out my term as President, until the sorority year ends on June 1. We installed new officers this past friday, and when I installed the new president (my biological sister), i bawled my eyes out. It took me about 10 minutes to read her oath cause I was crying so much!

I recently got appointed in a national position :-) so that will keep me busy with the sorority after I graduate.

Congrats to everyone on their new jobs!

I have a question. Does anyone besides Chi Omega not hold elections? Without saying too much, we do vote on who we want to be in each position but no one is supposed to say what position they want or campaign for it. The chapter is supposed to decide which position each woman would work best in. That goes for our Exec board. Then the new Exec board takes applications for the other jobs (Social Chair, Community Service Director, etc) and they appoint people to those positions.
