For all the Glasses wearers...

Someone please help me. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I just started wearing glasses about 2 years ago. Didn't want to in the first place, but anyway. Now, I am getting little marks on my nose from my glasses. Needless to say, I am most unhappy about this whole ordeal. I don't appreciate it in the least. What can I do to get rid of these marks and to prevent them from returning? Will cocoa butter work? Has anyone heard anything about, um, certain male bodily fluids helping clear up the skin? (Not saying I would try it, that was just someone's suggestion, lol)

Please help me, it's really bothering, me, lol.

You're glasses are not fitting properly. You would want to get them adjusted.

I guess cocoa butter would do the trick. I don't really have any suggestions.

I have been wearing glasses for over a year. I also got those marks on my nose. The spots were red all the time and NOTHING I did got rid of them until I got contacts. They cleared up about 2weeks after I stopped wearing my glasses.

Try cocoa butter but also go to the place you got your glasses from and get them adjusted. You may need a new pair of nose pads but not glasses.

You should have them adjusted and see if thay helps. Also, depending on the weight of your lenses, you may want to invest in lightweight plastic lenses. They cost more but can make a world of difference in comfort if you are wearing heavy lenses. (Mine were so heavy before I made the switch that my glasses gave me headaches from the presure on my nose after about four hours)

I would probably try cocoa butter and an alpha hydroxy lotion (if you skin can take it) to speed up the turn over of the skin on your nose and encourage the marks to fade (but I would do my whole face so as not to cause my nose to shed too much faster than the rest of my face)

Man, I love yall. All of yall. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try the cocoa butter and the alpha hydroxy lotion (maybe, what is this actually for?). I'm also gonna go get my glasses adjusted.

Thanks again!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

one more solution...

i've been wearing glasses all my life and as long as you continue to wear glasses those little marks will forever be there and never go away.

the marks are from heavy glasses and sweat. you have to constantly clean that little nose guard because it is plastic and sinks dirt and oil into your nose.

if you don't have to wear glasses all the time don't because then your vision will depend on them. also switch up between contacts and glasses.

i hope this helps...cocoa butter helps but as long as you keep putting your glasses back in the same spot it will never go away.

Well, this is most distressing news. I really can't have these things on my nose forever. *sigh* And I don't want to get contacts, because I'm a fraidy cat, and I don't want to put anything in my eyes. Plus, I'm lightweight lazy about some stuff, and I really don't want to deal with the maintenance of them. But I also don't want to deal with these marks on my nose. *sigh* Now I don't know what to do.

Also, I've thought about how much I wear my glasses. My prescription isn't that bad, I can see just fine without them, meaning I'm not blind. But I definitely need them when I'm driving. And I don't want to stare at this screen all day without them either. So I basically just leave them on all day. I think I'm going to start taking them off when I get home in the evenings. Maybe that will help, a little. *sigh*

Excuses, Excuses. You know what they say about them...

I used to say that SAME ya ya. I'm nearsighted as well. Girl, you don't even think about it when you put the lenses in. YOu JUST DO IT!

All you have to do is make like a regimen. When you brush your teeth, rinse your hands, take the lenses out of the dispenser/solution, put them in, rinse your hands AGAIN, do your hair, make-up or whatever.

When you return from "out", go to the bathroom, rinse your hands, put the solution in the dispenser, take out the lenses, wash your hands....AND PRESTO, you're through.

Simple as that!

You don't feel 'em, unless they are OLD, something foreign is on them, have torn, or are dry.

Step into the new millenniumnum...lol. Get those Contacts. You'll be glad you did! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey, people say it's good for your hair, too. Lots of protein. Read that in a magazine article. But the article ain't say nothin' about the skin.

LOL

I was just askin'! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

I would echo all of the same suggestions to you as well. It is true the marks never go away as long as you wear glasses! Uugghh!

I would suggest strongly that you get contacts. I too was scared, so much so that I did not try contacts until 2 years ago, I was 28 then. I had been wearing glasses since I was in 7th grade, so my fear ran deep. I will say that putting those things in took some getting used to. But I got the hang of it in no time. I made sure I got disposables becuz I am truly lazy when it comes to that kind of stuff. After a few weeks, I would get rid of them and pop in new ones.

Good luck!

Don't be distressed Ideal08,
I have been wearing glasses all my life too and have also struggled with the nose marks. I suggest that you change your nose pads every couple of months, because like someone said previously they do trap dirt, oil and makeup. Also try the small round nose pads as opposed to the oval or pear shaped ones that glasses normally come with. They tend not to make as big of a mark as the other ones.
And in addition to cocoa butter, pure vitamin E oil works wonders on all blemishes and skin discolorations, I swear by it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif. Not wearing your glasses all the time is really a good idea. Not only because it helps with the marks that are made but your eyes aren't too dependent on them as well.

Hope my little tid bit helped http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
