My Sorors and My Sisters in Greekdom...

Please share your thoughts. Sisterfriends, please observe, therefore, do not post.

How do you feel about para from your organization mixed with, intertwined with, or interconnected with para from an auxilliary group? For those of you who are/were members of both, have you done this? Or, has both organizations remained a separate entity?

For instance, if you are a Soror and you are/were a Kappa Sweetheart/Kourt or Alpha Angel, would you mix the two on a shirt, jacket, etc?

Also, if someone you knew was a member of an auxilliary, and she was in the process of working to become a member of your organization, and eventually does become a member, would you shower her with gifts from BOTH organizations once she crossed into DEF organization?

Please share your thoughts! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I had a soror in my chapter that had been both a KKI and a "Sigma sweet"
I do not think that the mixing of para is appropriate..
I also know sorors that are Eastern stars (not that they are a sweetheart organization by any means) that do not mix the two organizations' logos on their cars or t-shirts.
I guess I feel each organization that you belong to needs to stand alone

By the way, have you seen sorors move from one stroll line at a party to another-- it can be quite confusing

In my opinion, that is just some mess. HOT MESS. Really.

I expect all the organizations to which you belong to remain separate from your affiliation with Zeta. Being a member of Doves, Sweethearts, Pearls, Angels, etc. is not a requirement (or sometimes even advised) for membership into Zeta. Therefore, you participate in those memberships for your own edification and enjoyment, not as a component to your Zeta membership. Even Zeta Amicae, an officially recognized auxiliary within Zeta, does not provide the opportunity for dual membership within Zeta Amicae and Zeta Phi Beta, as they are two separate groups.

Greetings to all

Especially, my Beautiful Sorors

I am a member of Eastern Star It is a legacy in my family. I keep it seperated from my First LOVE Alpha Kappa Alpha. I could never put the two together on any jackets or shirts or whatever. It is separate and if it was one it would of been unified. They both are a powerful and encouraging. As far as sweethearts. That is different. Not to offend anyone but at my old school they are looked at different. Stereotyped. So to each it's own I would never mix it because it different and you don't go through the same thing.

AKADIVA06,

Please, introduce yourself! We love to meet new sorors here on GC. There's a Roll Call thread for you to do so. Please include your initiating chapter and year.

Thanks, and welcome to GC! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Good morning my Greek Sisters!

As an undergrad I was a Kappa Sweetheart. I do not believe that active participation in an auxiliary is appropriate after joining a Sorority and I ABSOLUTELY do not think it is appropriate to mix para. I cannot even imagine mixing another org of any kind with my beloved Sorority. I am still very close to my sweetheart sisters (and btw- we knew we were not a Sorority, we would never call each other Soror) and the Kappas but my first love will always be DST.

I also cannot imagine jumping from a Delta party hop to a k sweet party hop at all. Once I became a Soror the sweetheart chapter of my life closed. I packed my keychain etc up with the rest of the keepsakes for nostalgia.

To any sisterfriends reading this who are thinking about joining an auxiliary but are also interested in pledging any Sorority- think before you act. Make sure you understand you campus culture first! As someone else on the board mentioned, joining an auxiliary is not always a good idea. See what the reputation is and how Sororities on your campus view accepting auxiliary members. It varies wildly from campus to campus.

Sorry I stepped out yesterday
Yes the soror was both a KKI and Sigma sweet back in the day (she was alot older than the other members in the chapter at the time )

Back in the day I was a Alpha Angel. The day that I crossed into Alpha Kappa Alpha the little sis stuff went out the window. I still keep in touch with some of them as most of us moved on to AKA. As for the mixing of the two that is poor taste and judgement in my eyes. Now as for OES and sororities I have seen both on cars but not clothing. And for the gift giving. I would only give her gifts for her sororty. I guess to each is own. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
