The Founder's Step

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking but I need to get some things cleared up. I am a neo and when I probated we did the founders step. Although we were never given any background on the history of the step, we just assumed that it belonged to Alpha Kappa Alpha. As you can imagine, when we did the step at our probate members of Delta Sigma Theta were not very happy and since then, members from each organization have almost come to blows over it on more than one occasion. I have been told by members of dst that it is the organization's national step (like the Serious Matter step belongs to Alpha Kappa Alpha) and I have been told that this is true but that AKA's do it to kind of taunt dst members b/c some of Delta Sigma Theta's founders were at one time members of Alpha Kappa Alpha. I know that it might sound stupit that some of us have let a step make us act this way, but I also realize that for many is a matter of respect. So, if anyone has any info about this I would appreciate it. Becuase this has gone on too long and there are so many other things that both organizations could be doing to uplift the community.:)

Welcome to GC. Have you been over to the Alpha Kappa Alpha forum and introduced yourself? There's a forum to do so there.
:)

:(

Suffice it to say that it would be seen as disrespectful for an AKA chapter to emulate that step.

not trying to stir anything up....well yes I am.

It's odd to me that a person first post would be in another orgs forum outside of their IMMEDIATE family tree.

My first post was in the QUE forum

My second was in the Delta forum.

And I've been all over since then.

I had look a bunch of times to make sure my eyes weren't decieving me. SomethingSomething1908....one total post....and it's in the Delta Forum.

Peoples please check in at your home base forum FIRST. Then post in others.

Now to answer your question.

Yes, it's disrespectful if y'all ain't doing the step to spread love. And then you should have done everyone's step.

I question the validity of this post though.

Where the hell were your prophytes? Did they not teach y'all a drop of history? Or protocol?

I mean I know things are different all over but it seems as if you took a test on the net and made just enough to join. And know nothing of the background of stepping nor other organizations.

If you are indeed a Neo then I can't be mad at you. But I can sure be a lil hot with your prophytes.

If you are real please check in with your sorors. And I am sure they'd rather you have asked anyone of them this in PM rather than out here in the open.

Why did you come on a message board to ask this question? If you were SINCERE in resolving this matter, you as well as your sorors would simply seek out my sorors to resolve this matter, build friendly inter-fraternal relations, etc. etc. etc.

I can honestly say you will always be remembered on GC for this post.

What is even more odd is that she joined in March and still has not introduced herself in the proper forum and way that that forum expects introductions to be made.

It's unfortunate that brand new young ladies would be introduced as members of this organization and instantly be thrown into that old unnecessary drama between our two orgs.

I agree with all that has been said thus far, especially the comment about keeping your questions and/or concern about this problem addressed to those on your campus. There is NOTHING we can do about it here. Tell the ladies over on AKA ave I said whassup...whenever you find the time to make it over there and say hello. :D

SOROR get in the handbasket right now! This line was hilarious to me thus making me choke on my sip of coffee.

Aw Lawd

I know someone's going to light into me about this but....

Let's remember she's a neo. I don't know why she didn't post in the AKA forum but can we not chastise her to the point that she doesn't feel comfortable visiting again.

She asked a weird, but vaild question that probably gets us b/c I'd venture to say most, like me, have no idea what the answer is.... and brushing her off is the solution... Sorry, it's the therapist in me.

Okay, I'm ducking out now...

Good luck shorty in finding your answer, I agree that it lies on your campus.

In love,

IC

Um. Carla, you know to DELETE me if I am about to become INNUPROPRIUHT! :o

See, you're fairly new to GC and this is how we do it! Since she claims to be my "Soror" notice the "", neo or not is NO excuse.
Why hasn't she come over to the AVE? Probably because she is CERTIFIABLY SUSPECT and is NOT a member.

Most of us have been on these boards for YEARS and can kind of tell who is legit and who isn't. Many neos have come on this board and the AKA board and have NOT started "mess" on another org's board as their FIRST post.

I don't know, maybe it's the SEAS0NED GC member in me that ISN'T feeling her. We haven't had a post like this from anyone in YEARS. This is why the Pearls of Wisdom, which was one of the PHIRST (if not THE first) announcements established on GC regulating its users. We did not tolerate such behavior then and we certainly won't tolerate it NOW. WE (mods of AKA and DST) have worked too hard to have our boards peaceful and free of ignorance because of "my org and your org" mentality.

Everyone one is welcome on GC. If you choose to act OOO (out of order) then that's something you have to deal with...not us!

:D
