 Substance abuse movie

Hey ya'll! I need to critique a movie about someone with an alcohol or drug problem that seeks some kind of treatment - any suggestions?

21 Grams with Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro
Requiem for a Dream with Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans That's all that comes to mind right now, though I can't remember if Requiem has anyone trying to actually seek help. |

Requiem for a Dream is sooo good. very intense, but good.
no one seeks help for themselves in it, but medical help is forced upon one character. Traffic is another one |

Traffic, Requiem is good, Blow, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Trainspotting, umm Go is a pretty good movie dealing with Substance abuse (ecstacy) and even Forrest Gump deals with it a little bit, how Jenny uses coke and stuff and gets AIDs later on, etc.

i don't know if they get any help, but Spun with Brittany murphy and john lequizamo (sp?) is a big drug abuse movie. another one that has some drug issues is the movie thirteen.

If you're thinking alcohol, I'd suggest Leaving Las Vegas or When a Man Loves a Woman. Both made me cry. However, I don't think Brittany's character ever seeks help in Spun. In When a Man Loves a Woman, I know that Andy Garcia throws Meg Ryan into rehab. |

 Blow
	Requiem for a Dream |

 old school movies:
Days of Wine & Roses The Man w/ the Golden Arm |

Or if you wana go the comedy way, 28 Days with Sandra Bullock. One of my faves.

 Basketball Diaries

sorry I meant to edit my previous post, rather than quote it. |

Go - I loved the movie for the concept but i can't remember anyone seeking treatment in the end. But it covered the Rave scene.
I have been wanting to see Requiem for a while but I don't know if i can stomach it. But I have heard it's really good. |

I agree with everyone else on Requiem for a Dream...great movie but it's very disturbing. If anyone still wants to do heroin after seeing this movie, they are screwed up. I'll warn you though, the movie is very graphic, like you see someone get their arm amputated and stuff. But if you can stomach that stuff it's definitely worth it to watch.
Leaving Las Vegas is also great, made me cry so much, but still a great movie. |
