Derby Days
 

I was recently elected annotator for our chapter, and one of my duties will be to run Derby Days. I'm looking for ideas on how other chapters run their Derby Days. This year, we didn't raise as much money as we hoped. We tried to get the other fraternities involved, but it didn't work to well. Also it seems the sororities are getting burned out on the same events every year.
What activites does your chapter do? We have skit night, search for the golden derby, derby doll, and games. What games do you play? We do greasy watermelon pass, egg toss, paint a sig, water balloon volleyball, dizzy wheelbarrel race, and pyramid relay. How do you raise money? This year our sponsors didn't want to donate money, they wanted to donate items which we raffled.
Also, I want to the entire week to follow the theme. Normally, about the only think that follows the theme are the skits. What are some good themes?

Not a Sigma Chi but awwwww, I miss Derby Days!!

One thing I can remember that you didn't have down was a Jeopardy type of quiz. There were questions like famous Sigs, what are the colors, etc etc...stuff like that.

We also had "Kiss A Sig" day but I can't remember the specifics on this one.

Don't forget about Derby Queen? Or is that what Derby Doll is? Also, our guys did this thing where on a certain day you got points if you could get the Sigma Chi to laugh, but you weren't allowed to touch him. Can't quite remember what that was called. They also did penny wars, and of course collecting the derbies all week. Our guys also did the jeopardy game like 33-girl mentioned.

Something for instead of donating $$$ you could collect can tabs...depending on where you're located those can be "redeemed" for different things. I know ours were donated and redeemed for time on the dialysis machine (for the patients - not us! :)).

Last year they gave each sorority a disposable camera and had them make a scrapbook as part of the competition. I think we were the only ones who actually did one. Do yall do "rent a sig"? they auctioned off members to all the women. they were required to do anything they asked them to do (nothing gross, but stuff like washing cars, move stuff, etc). That is always funny. A girl in adpi liked one of them and we were bidding against his ex girlfriend. We also pooled like 80 bucks together to get these two who came as a pair. For our scrapbook we took a picture of them doing the adpi diamond hand signal thingy and we also took a pic of the wal mart sign that says "we sell for less" we put the two together and it was a riot.
