Family Plots

I don't like the idea of death and funerals, but the previews for this show seems interesting for me to watch  . It comes on tonight on the A&E channel. Something about a family in the funeral home business and the things that go on behind closed doors. To me, the previews make it seem like a funny show.

So this is supposed to be like a real life "Six Feet Under"?

moe.ron 04-19-2004 12:19 PM

Exactly like it.. I believe it is being marketed as the "Real life" Six Feet Under.

This show was absolutely fascinating. Really touching, too, especially when the daughters of the lady who had been in the bad car accident asked to meet Shonna and thanked her for giving them the opportunity to see their mom one last time.

when I was a kid, one of the girls in my Girl Scout troop was the daughter of my town's mayor/funeral director. She actually lived above the funeral home. I thought that was the coolest thing for some reason. I was a weird kid, I guess.

Just like in My Girl!

I'll be watching this tonight. It was filmed locally. I can't wait!

it's kinda weird/morbid for me to be in the mortuary business. i just wonder how all the daughters went into it also...?

I had some friends in HS who's parents worked owned a funeral home.. it had been in the family for generations. they got into it because it was a family thing. it wasn't odd or morbid to them.. they saw it as a way to console and to "help" the surviving families.

i really wanted to see the show.. but I had to work until 11 lastnight :(

I watched it last night. There were some serious moments on the show, but I thought 80% of the time it was strangely humorous. The part where one of the daughters threw the pizza, the carpool with the dead body in the car, and the contest to see who could stop smoking first was pretty funny. I give it a thumbs up.

dzsaigirl 04-20-2004 04:03 PM

I loved both episodes. The pizza throwing was classic!

I am loving this show.

It has a lot of humor to it, since it's a reality show, but I'm surprised at how touching it is as well.

10 points from Jules.
