The Lisa F. dating thread
I went ahead and cut and pasted this from the other thread. I thought you might want an update on my dates.
O.K. some of yall (especially Lynn and Maria) know that I'm trying to find me a cute little Jewish dude. How's this for starters: I've got two dates this week, one tommorrow night for dinner and one probably Sun. a.m. (before the church crowds) for breakfast!!!!! The way that happened was, I went to a Jewish singles group, (which I use to HATE going to) and sat next to a guy and started chating. The second date, the gal who gets the singles together set me up with someone she knows. I don't know what is going to come of either one, but never hurts to at least meet. Wish me luck! |
The update as of 4/18/04 (Sun.) is as follows: The guy I went with on Wed. was not someone I would pick to date. He apparently has money, which would be alright. However, he seems to spend extravagently. That is so not me. His shirt was so starched that it probably would have stood on it's own. We went out to an Italian resteraunt, which was good.
The guy I went out with today, appeared to be much more like me. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. We seemed to get along and enjoy our time though, which is a good thing. We went out to brunch, then decided to take a walk at a garden then stopped for lunch. The weather today was BEAUTIFUL! It would have been ashame to spend it inside by myself. However, I'm not sure if he want just someone to hang out with when he doesn't have anyone or if he wants something more or what. It appeared that both of those guys treated their moms well. I saw that first hand with the second guy. I did enjoy my time with him and he asked me to a play in a couple of weeks. I figure that is a good sign that he wants to spend more time with me. After the play, I suggested we grill out at my house. So that is my next plan of action. |
Go for the second guy... but don't stress over what happens next... just let events fall as they will.
Glad to hear that he is making long term plans with you... play in two weeks and he is into cultural things... good sign. What did he look like... tall, skinny, dark hair??? |
I would not put off anyone until you know more about both.Keep your options open.

Thanks for the great advice. There is something about the second one that I can't yet put my finger on. He seems to be super nice, opening doors for me, letting me order meals first, paying for the meals he invited me to. He is about three years older than me. Height wise he is probably just under 6 feet. He has dark hair, which is starting to salt and pepper a little. But, then again, so is mine so that is ok. He has about average build, a little on the thinner side.

Too funny! I love this thread... I can understand the frustration of dating, deal with it all the time. Good luck!

Wendi- I could offer you tons of advice-you just never asked . I guess you already knew what I would offer ;).
I just wish Mr. P jr. would ask 'cuz -Do I have an earful for him! He is SOOOOO cute and is dating a girl that looks like Shelley Duval in "The Shining" and not in a good way. Yikes. I am having some nightmares about this one. He is only 21 ,but I do not want my dotage filled with some unfortunate looking granchilren. But I'll Scarlett that thought. I am far TOO young to have any grandchildren. My sister just had a huge B'day party for her 40th which was actually almost 2 years ago. We are 2 yrs apart so that makes me 42 again-instead of almost 44. t'll work for me! M |

Thank goodness for you...keeping us laughing all the time! Yes, I know what advice you would give me. :) I know you too well... |
Lisa, have fun with both and things will work themselves out. As someone who's had more first dates than I can count in the last 18 months, just keep on dating 'em until there's a clear sign it's a no. Besides, a girl's gotta eat... nothing wrong with getting taken out for a meal! Kidding... kind of. ;) :D

And by the way, "unfortunate looking grandchildren" is the funniest thing I've ever heard!!! :D Marie, please give us your dating advice! I'm all ears!!! I need to find me a Mr. P of my own! |
As smart as Mr. P Jr. is , he doesn't date well. And , that girl is on him like a sweater.
As for dating advice, you know that I could say lots and do in person. They broke the mold with Mr. P. He is so sweet to me.I shop incessantly, don't work-except to volunteer for everything and,he is precious with Mary Cathryn.Of Course ,he is a huge Geek and likes totally nerdy things. He can't dance 'cept to do the "white man overbite" and the simpleton shuffle. But he'll cook b'fast for me every morning and do my shopping returns(I hate to return). There are always trade-offs. I always wanted someone who photographed well, which he did and does- minus half of his hair..Now I want someone who doesn't bug me about be obsessed with me and still loves my when I look like the Queen of my Double-wide. And yes he does have a brother, but no he is not available. This is a good thing since his brother just spent 25,000$ on plastic surgery for HIMSELF. As we all know,no amount of surgery can make a man obsessed with his looks attractive. If a man spends too much time in front of the mirror worshipping himself,he is neglecting ME(or you). And we all know,IT"S ALL ABOUT ME!!!(YOU!!!) M |
Sorry Lisa but we may need to rename this thread "Marie's dating comedy thread!"
I am on my way to a dinner date... I am sure I will have some comedy to add to this thread later. |
I am laughing way too loudly here! I think that at Convention, Marie should hold an ancillary workshop "Dating in the 21st century"!
Dee (Boy do I have some horror stories... I've decided that at my age, the good ones are still married to their first wives and the rest aren't worth my time!) |
Now, I dated my share of knuckle draggers. One "missing link" with a savage unibrow actual threw up on me during a UGA football game. It didn't match what I was wearing -which was very upsetting to me. We then were a matched set. I smelled like his breath ,so I was golden. NOT!
I am sure everyone has crazy blind date stories. Thank Goodness Lisa knows what these lucky guys look like. I can't wait to hear more! M |
Marie, LOL!!! :) Your sense of humor is another reason why I cannot wait for Convention!
