Greek Houses
I was a member of a greek organization on a campus that had a city ordinance against greek housing, and have always been curious about the housing of greeks on other campuses, in other states.
Does anyone have their house on the web, or know of a site where I can view a few? I'm just curious. ------------------ Sigma Sigma Sigma Zeta Eta - formally Beta Kappa - presently |
At UBC the brothel rule applied to the sororities for years. It has now been lifted but it cost $1 million just to purchase land at UBC (let alone building the actual house). In the 1950's UBC built the Panhellenic House which was torn down dec 1998. Right now we have nothing but UBC is building a brand new start of the art Panhel, which should be completed within the next couple of years. The fraternties all have houses but their leases are running out. They will be building new homes on the same site as the Panhel building, creating a Greek Village. If you want to see plans it is somewhere on the UBc web site: www.ubc.ca

Try greekpages.com ! can get into schools and F and S sites. I check it a lot as trying to find house plans for a new house at Pitt. St U.

DePauw & UCLA are 2 I can think of that show pix of the sorority houses on their panhel web page.
A sorority house can be anything from a huge Tara-style mansion to a 2-bedroom little shack. All depends on the campus, the local housing market, and the depth of the actives'/alumnae's pockets. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
