pins

so, seeing posts on the ebay thread, and blueviolets post about losing her pin reminded me that my alpha class (fall 03) still hasn't gotten their pins yet. i'm sad. how long is it supposed to/does it usually take for EO to send pins to chapters?

granted, we aren't the only ones, two other sororities on campus haven't gotten theirs yet either, but both groups got initiated later than we did, one of them just this semester.

and it still makes me sad, we're coming up on our second set of diamonds days this semester, and still no pins.
wah.

Well sweetie, I'm not sure why it is taking so long for your pins to arrive. I was initiated in the spring 1998. The NME ordered our pins about a week or two prior to initiation (if I remember correctly) and I'm not sure when they came in but I didn't get mine until I went down in August to help the chapter out with FR. You might want to ask you NME. I'm sure you aren't the only girl anxious to recieve her pin.

My alpha class was initated 4-24-03, and our pins took about 4 months to come in... we recieved them the day right before Pref Night at Formal Recruitment

I remember someone saying they had to put a rush on them so we would recieve them before Pref Night though, but I'm not totally sure about that

its been five months since we got initiated, and somehow i bet we wont get them til pref like yall.

Sweetheart, remember that almost all of the ADPi chapters did recruitment in the fall. And our initiation dates are pretty close across the board. I know you are anxious to have your pin, but in all honesty, you may not get them until FR. In the past, most of the girls that went through fall got them on Founder's day. Give it another week and see if that happens this time as well. :)

Also, while the other sororities went through initiation after y'all, dont be concerned with it. The company we use handles all Adpis orders. So adpi alone can keep that company pretty busy modifying and personalizing each badge. Hang in there sweetie, it will arrive soon.

Do you have a pin to wear right now? If not, I have one I can loan to you until your does come in. :) (I'm planning on bringing them to initiation Wednesday already. )

I can also loan you a pin. I now have two (due to my winning one on Ebay) and I would more than willing to let you use it. As an alum I don't get to wear my pin alot, so at least I know you would be using it. Just give me a pm if you would like too.

Not yet having your pin doesn't take away from your membership in ADPi! We encourage chapters to allow new initiates to wear their diamond sister's pin until theirs is sent to them.

Meanwhile-- Ask your NMC to contact EO to see if she can get an idea of when the pins will be ready.

Your ADPi badge is custom-made, especially for you. It is well worth the wait and something you will have forever. Patience, sister!

that's actually a big reason why i'm bummed about them not being here yet. while i dont have a little diamond yet, a lot of the girls in my alpha class do, and they can't loan them their pins since they haven't gotten theirs.

other than that, i can be patient about it.
i always get a little sad when i'm worried that someone might miss out on part of an experience.

I know in my chapter we would pass our pins down farther if other pins were not in... Such as my diamond sister took a diamond sister when her pin was not in yet, her diamond sister wore my pin... It was kind of neat to me at least.

I agree. that is what we always did at UNT too. Are they not doing that now??

With initiation this week, how many of your alpha sister would you say have diamonds that dont have pins?

ADPiSAI 04-18-2004 10:48 PM

our first fall alpha class (from formal recruitment) hasn't gotten their pins yet either... but the SECOND fall alpha class (COR... initiated right before finals) already got theirs! odd...

Executive Office should be contacted. Speak with Amanda Sloan, Campus Services Manager.

diamond discovery was just this past thursday, and i can only remember two of the alpha's big diamonds, but i know both of them have pins. probably no more than 2 or 3 this time though, since this group is so much smaller than the first.

texas*princess 04-19-2004 11:56 AM

katy, i'm pretty sure the big <>s who don't have their pins yet can borrow one from another active sister? at least that is what a couple sisters did last semester who had lost their pins.

I know that at least since last spring we never wore our big <>s pins...
