Long time :(
It's been a long time since any phi mu alpha's have posted on here... its sad. In fact today marks the one month of sinfonian silence. Almost reminds me of when the brothers were having their no talking to women days... *sigh*

There are very few things about my probate period that I have forgotten (I hope), but I had completely forgotten about the no talking to women days. I guess some memories are just so horrible that they have to be repressed. ;) Thanks for the reminder, Midnight Rose. |
Ahhh...the Fraternal Day of Silence.
This is one of my favorite brotherhood activities of the probationary period. At Shenandoah, we put this into practice as a day of no social talking to people that are neither brothers or probationary members. In our daily duties, such as work, class, and meetings, we do talk. We impress upon our entire brotherhood that this day is ment to reflect upon the many virtues of silence. In music, the silence that is kept is just as important as the sound that is made. During rehearsals, how much time is wasted when artists begin talking when their conductor cuts them off. In life, we do not realize the importance of social interaction until we chose to withdrawl from it for just one single day. By keeping this silence, many classes of probationary members have commented on how much they have learned from this day, and every semester I am reminded of this as well. |

I agree it's been real quiet, I tried to generate sound noise on here but there aren't many Sinfonains on here. I hope to hear from new ones soon.

Silence Days
Wow!!! That's bizarre. We never did anything like that at my chapter. We did have other unofficial activities, of which there were many ;), that made my days as a collegiate most memorable. Our color nights were the bomb! It seemed that other GLOs would always plan their stuff on the same weekends. I remember walking out of my dorm room in all black sporting my combat boots, flashlight, canteen, and change of clothes only to find my neighbor in a different GLO doing the same exact thing. We both looked at each other in awe and almost simultaneously asked each other what we were doing! HAHA!
