South Beach Diet
i was wondering if anyone on GC has tried the south beach diet yet, i keep hearing good things about it for the most part and it does sound a lot more sensible than atkins (not to mention healthy) im gonna give a try starting may 1st and i'll let you guys know how it works out for me but if anyone else has tried it yet i'd love to hear if it worked or not for you!

I am not on it, but my friend/co-worker is, and she is definitely losing weight. I don't think it is a miraculous or dramatic amount of weight, but she says the book that goes along with the diet is really helpful.
It seems to be very sensible. |
i was on the south beach diet...until I got mono and my mom made me stop. Now I'm just too poor to afford fresh meats and veggies (gotta love those cheap carbs!!!)
But it was very sensible, and out of a very small sample (me and my 3 roommates) my roommate and i that were on south beach lost more in 3 weeks than the roomie on weight watchers and the roomie on xenadrine. i thought it was sensible and basically advocated eating breakfast (something else i no longer have time to do) having snacks throughout the day and eating a balenced dinner. i fully intend to go back on it with my mother after i have surgery on my hip in may. |
my dad has the book at home, so I was looking at it yesterday.
It sounds reasonable - I just couldn't do it. All of my fave foods are "Avoid" or "very Limited". And I can't afford fresh stuff either. speaking of food - it's time for lunch... |

You haven't given your body time to adjust to the rapid weight loss and are more likely to put it all back one once you stop. But if it works for you, I say go for it. |
