soul mates

What does every one thing about soul mates. Do you think that you have one? How do you know if he/she is yours.

I don't believe in them - I think the term is a cheap excuse to back out of a marriage.

OR it can be a feeble excuse not to explore more options . ..

Woman: OMG I have like dated three guys, am 22, and in my infinite experience, I just KNOW he is the ONE.

Puke :)

I don't believe in soul mates, really. I think there are a lot of people you can have a connection with...or else we wouldn't have people getting married 4, 5, 6 or more times, right? :p

Or maybe those people who have multiple marriages are not connected to the person but something else...

Since I'm feeling exceptionally lovey-dovey today I'm going to vote "yes" on the soul mate issue. :D

Before I did not believe in them at all, but certain things have opened my eyes.....so...yea.... ;)

I think my cat is my soul mate, and I'm not even kidding.

Ariesrising, I like the explanation that page gives -- and I agree!

Shades of Plato

The Twin Souls comment that they may not even be recreated where they could meet one another is disheartening though.

Yeah, I don't know if there is "The One," either. I'm thinking it's really more like "The Quite a Few." :p

i totally believe in soul mates, i think there's one person in the world that you're 100% compatible and ideally meant to be with, but that isn't to say there are hundreds of other ppl in the world that you're like 95% compatible with...that's my theory

dzsaigirl 04-13-2004 12:42 PM

I think that people can have soul mates. I don't think it means that the person you marry is necessarily your soul mate though. Like it can be a friend or a sister or whatever, just like that webpage says.

I also think that if you listen to yourself, you will know when someone will figure prominently in your life. I met my husband well before I started dating him and the second I met him I just got this general feeling of "Oh, there you are, long time no see." But I had never seen him before. And, at that point, I never would have thought of him as someone to date. He isn't necessarily my soul mate, but other than loving him deeply, I think he is someone that I was predestined to be with.

Have to add this:

I also think that there are people who you NEED to know at certain points of your life and can have an intense connection with (friend or loved one, etc.) BUT may be a temporary connection for you, just depending on where you are in your life at the time. For example, a really great friend from high school who you connected honestly on many levels but who you feel absolutely no connection with anymore, or maybe even despise now. I think these people help you learn about yourself.

(And, to add, I am Christian...I know that some Christians have a problem with this whole "connection" thing, but I do not feel that it contradicts my beliefs :) )

Soulmates...

... DO NOT EXIST.

I believe there is jsut a grip of people that each person can be compatible with, it's just all situational - who you meet and when. Timing is everything.

Whoever you end up with is who you should be with. Unless you are dumb and are with someone for the wrong reasons or something.

i totally believe in soul mates, as i have one. :) but it's not in the traditional way. my best friend from hs was a year behind me....and when i left for college, he asked me if i thought ppl could be soul mates without having ever dated (although we should have at some point, but now i'm glad we didn't b/c now he's gay.....but whatever ;) ), and i said yes. so he said that i was his soul mate.

i think a soul mate is someone that you connect with on ALL levels, but not necessarily on a romantic level. i know that no matter what, he's there, and he knows the same about me. it's a friendship, but it's also a lot deeper than that. that was 5 years ago......he's still my one and only soul mate. :D and whenever i get married, he's gonna stand up with ME, on MY side. i'll have bridesmaids, but then i'll have him, too. :D
