Making the First Move.

Hey all~ I've heard so much debate on this topic lately, I decided to go ahead and ask the authorities at GC on this one...

Is it OK for the girl to make the first move? (E.g. Give her number or plan to meet up.)

Guys - Do you like it/hate it/only in certain situations?

Girls - Would you/have you/only in certain situations?

Yes, I have made the first move...and I'd do it again! ;)

Its a good thing when the woman makes the first move.

I've never made the first move... I'm just way too shy around guys I like... it's something I'm working to get over as I'm getting older... I think about past situations where the guy was shy too, and I wonder how things would've turned out if I would've just gone ahead and made the first move... I mean, I'm a cute girl... I'm sure the guys wouldn't have been like "ugh I don't want that nasty trick talking to me" lol

The two times I made the first move, I ended up marrying the guys. I won't ever do that again!

I made a lot of "first moves". In fact, I did with Hubby! If you see something you want, go after it. Just do it in a way that is different and doesn't make you look E-Z. Be careful though, sometimes you can get more than you can handle!

I've made first moves a few times. Generally, it's as hard as going up to someone and shaking their hand. But the best realtionships I've had came from times when I met someone and we were both trying to hit on eachother. :-)

Yes, I totally find this to be true also! With one end in pursuit constantly, it becomes a drain.

I guess when I have made the first move it comes down to pure impatience. I want to know if its worth the time or if I should keep moving on!:p

I suck at making a move! I love to flirt...but can never just come out and admit feelings.

I used to wait for the guy to make the first move...it never worked out well. I got the guts and made the first move W/Mr.Rio....and it's worked out -very-well :D

Yeah course it's okay. Do it.

This would be me in a nutshell :)

The only guy (as of right now) that I've really liked I was too chicken to say anything, he was too chicken to say anything, so we sat on it, and by the time we discussed it, our relationship had evoled into a brother/sister type of interaction, rather than a boyfriend/girlfriend.

There are times to this day that I think "what if...", but then I tell myself that I *still* couldn't make the first move!

WOW...now he is stuck in the "friend" zone and he will NEVER and I mean
EVER be able to get out of it . This is proof that the ladder theory is true.

go to that website. It explains everything

I can see some validity to the ladder theory. But, in the *above* case I was talking about, how would it explain it if I had him on the "good" ladder, he *supposedly* had me on the ladder, he didn't make a move, I was too chicken to make a move, and we didn't actually mention the "friends" word until after he had mentioned he saw me as a sister (and I hadn't said anything either way about what I felt for him)???

Just curious :)

ETA: Now the guy in question is happily engaged to another woman who is absolutely perfect for him, and I couldn't be happier, because she *fits* him better than I ever could.
