The Best City to Live In
I sometimes wish I lived somewhere else. I talk to my friends and they say the same thing. Is anyone absolutely loving where they live or know of a place they would love to just pick up and move to? If so, what do you love about the place, opportunities, scenery, weather, etc?

I currently live in Western PA. I don't like it too much because it is cold in the winter and there really isn't a stable Black professional atmosphere. But my church home has made all the difference in my being satisfied here until God is ready for me to move.
Here are my 7 city picks: 1. Houston, TX 2. Memphis, TN 3. Nashville, TN 4. Charlotte, NC 5. DC Metro Area (Maryland, DC, VA) 6. Richmond, VA 7. Atlanta, GA I like each of these cities, and would love to move in their vicinity. Each of them has a wonderful Christian community, stable and growing Black professional community, decent weather, and are a part of the New Economy. Lovely, I know how it feels to be in the dumps about the city in which you live. Just keep your head up and look forward to a day in which you can live elsewhere. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif +++ [This message has been edited by nikki25 (edited July 10, 2001).] |

Nikki.... I might re-think that Memphis, TN pick. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Try Memphis in about 5 years, it may be cool there then.
Nashville's okay and Dallas is HELLA tight! I love me some Dallas TX. Already! |
What's up with Memphis? I'm thinking about moving up there in 2003.

yep! dallas is the B-O-M-B! when i get out of school, that is where i want to take up residence!

I believe that the person makes the city, the city does not make the person.

I used to want to live in Florida so bad. But 2 things stopped that: hurricanes and flying roaches (EWWWW!!).
I like Chicago but I don't know about the climate cuz it's about the same as where I'm at now (Detroit). I have been to DC/Maryland and I loved it. I've also been to Dallas and I liked it there as well. The only thing about Dallas was that it seemed like everything is so far away. We had to take the expressway a lot to get to a lot of places. Perhaps it was where we were staying though. Anyway, I think I'd pick DC/Maryland area to just pick up and move to. [This message has been edited by ZChi4Life (edited July 12, 2001).] |

Austin is a lot of fun, and it is pretty, too. |
Well I agree Memphis is not the best place to live or raise a family. I live in Nashville now and it is cool but there is nothing to do. So if you like to work and stay at home then Nashville is a wonderful place. It is only popping during football time.

I heard Memphis had great shopping places, especially for ***SHOES***!

I agree novella! I LOVE living in Dallas. I am from a small town, so Dallas is a great change. Not too fast, and not too slow. I like Houston, but it is MUCH faster than Dallas (I will admit that this country girl is just not ready). Also, I am not sure if I could ever get used to Houston weather.

I agree with novella00 about the Memphis thang.
In my heart the best place to live is NYC, but ya can't be broke that's for sure. I lived in 5 other states and my heart always longs to go back home. Personally, I can do without some of the southern states--no disrespect to my southern brothers and sisters. But I heard Illinois and Texas are cool states. |
