IFC-Wide Events

Does anyone have any good ideas for IFC Sponsored Pre-Rush Events to get people interested in going Greek - I'm working on applications for Activity funding for next year - so cost isnt too much of a factor - Please post if you have any cool ideas

All of our fraternities get together and have a "formal roundtable". Basically, all guys interested in going through rush attend a dinner in one of the conference rooms where they can talk to guys from different houses about rush and fraternity life. Additionally, the IFC president, the dean of men, and some alums give speeches during dinner about the benifits of joining a fraternity, etc. It is a really nice event that shows guys a side of greek life that they might not normally get to see.

The more guys you get to an event means the more guys you are able to pitch Fraternity Life to at one time.

If your school has some sort of "Welcome" party at the start of the year, then participate in this. If you can have something specific - an information booth and or a food booth - that would be best. If not, then get fraternities to help out in general. Including events where parents are present. This allows you to present a good picture of the fraternity system and get the parents support. For these events, guys should either wear some sort of "United Greek" shirt or their individual letters. The idea is to show Greek Unity along with service to and integration with the campus.

An other event might be some sort of "All Fraternity" pre-rush cookout or party. If feasible, (cost, size) open it to the whole campus. Guys are more likely to come if they can bring friends, girlfriends, roommates.
