Casting for "The Coldest Winter Ever"
Last month I read Sister Souljah's "The Coldest Winter Ever." And some friends and I were discussing who would be ideal actors for the characters in the book.
For those of you that have read the book who do you think would be ideal? For the father, mother, Winter, Midnight, Sister Souljah, etc. |
Winter: Monica (she's urban fabulous!)
Midnight: Omar Epps Dad: Allen Payne (Jason's Lyric) Mom: Jada Pinkett Smith ( for some reason I envision someone really short for this role) Sister Souljah should play herself. |
I remember discussing this in another forum, but I'll post my thoughts here as well.....
Winter: Taral Hicks or Meagan Goode Santiaga: Giancarlo Esposito or Khalil Cain (Allen Payne seems like a good choice too) Winter's mom: Jada Pinkett Smith or Vivica Fox Midnight: Omar Epps or Mo Chest Bullet: Silkk the Shockker Natalie: Lil' Kim Porsche (in the end of the book): Kyla Pratt, Raven Symone or Jurnee Smollett (Eve's Bayou) |

If Jada plays Winter.....
I'll be sure to hurl! Winter is a dark-skinned female and I think it would be in the best interest of the casting director to cast a DARK SKINNED FEMALE!!!!! Otherwise, it would go against the character's description. JMHO.....

The book describes Winter's mother as having a dark complexion, Jada playing that part most likely woudn't take away from the character, but it's good to go along with how characters are described.
Just my humble opinion. I thought of another brothah that could play the part of Midnight- Idris Elba or Stringer Bell from the Wire on HBO. He is FIIINE. ;) |
