anyone ever...

anyone ever been to a concert by themselves? (I mean a large scale one...)

I am going alone to the Kelly/Clay concert on Wednesday cuz no one can go/wants to go that I know of.

I mean I got killer seats on the floor in an aisle... but I am just scared cuz even though I won't really BE alone... I technically will be.

I feel like such a loser... but I really wanted to go.

I went to see the Jesus and Mary Chain in Fall 1994 alone. Good time.

I've recently gone to 2 shows alone. They were only club shows, but I was still alone. It wasn't too bad, I mean when I go to shows I usually end up alone anyway because my friends like to be on the floor but I like to go up to the balcony where I can see. I've met people both times I've been alone. You'll be OK.

I went to see LSG ( Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat, and Johnny Gill) by myself in 1997. had a great time.

I have, several times. If I don't enjoy my company, who else will?

I think I am more scared of something happening to me and no one there (friends, family) to help me out. Like if my car were to be broken into or whatever.

But at the same time... i can never carry on a conversation during a concert without screaming so while it's nice to have company, it's not necessary. Plus I will be surrounded by tons of people.

I went to a Tori Amos concert alone when I was, like, 15, and these three drunk ladies made friends with me and tried to buy me a beer.

In retrospect it was pretty creepy.

Anyway, I think it depends on how much you want to see the concert. I've gone to shows alone where I just kind of wanted to see the band, and those were really boring -- but the ones where I really wanted to see the singer/band were a lot of fun even by myself.

I've been to many concerts alone, since my musical tastes are a little different than most of my friends. Mr. BetaRose got me a ticket to this thursdays Indigo Girls concert as a birthday present. He was going to get 2 tickets, but I told him that if he was just going to sit there bored and act like a stereotypical male, he could just get one ticket. He took me up on the offer, so I'll be going alone. :)

it could be a bummer that you won't have anyone to share it with and get to talk about it with (unless you find some GCers who have gone to the concert also :) ) But it would be a blast if you went alone rather than go with someone who didn't really want to go. it's just annoying to have someone with you that isn't having a blast also.

I don't know if this counts, but I saw Michael Jackson live all by myself from the 2nd row!

Initially I got tickets with my friends, but I ended up getting a better seat by calling the radio station and being the 1043rd (their call number's 104.3 FM) caller. So technically I went with friends, but split up with them so I could see Michael up close.

Btw, this was in 1997 before all this shit happened, it was his only concert he was going to have in the United States, and it was right after History came out. I wasn't going to pass up the 2nd row.

Jen, you'll be fine by yourself, but know that if I were there I'd definitely go with you. :)

Aww. Thanks OTW.

K I have another question to piggyback this one. Has anyone tried to smuggle a camera into a concert? Any creative ways to conceal it and not get caught. I have a little disposible so it's no big deal if they take it... BUT it would be nice to have. Any ideas?

Depending on how big the camera is, and if you are wearing baggy clothes, hid it in your private area. Security never ever check that area.

Wait, you're not allowed to take a camera into concerts? Since when? I haven't been to a lot of concerts, maybe 3 or 4, but I know I've had a camera at at least two of those ... when are you not allowed to take a camera?

I've been to see different symphonic and instrumental concerts by myself. It happened primarily because I couldn't find anyone interested in going to watch classical music stuff with me. Not quite the same as what the rest of ya'll are talking about though.

It been like that for a very long time. I remmember I had to put my camera in the car during the Guns n Roses/Metallica tour back in 93.

Then again, you have some bands that have very liberal policies about camera and recording equiptment. Make sure you read your tickets and outside the venue. They'll tell you the policy about camera and recording equiptment.
