Professional Organizations

I searched, but what I found didn't really answer my question...

Are any of you in professional greek-lettered organizations/honor societies? How many? Is it redundant to be in more than 1 or 2? Do people ask you why you are in more than one organization? Do these organizations actually help you after undergrad?

I'm more so referring to something like Kappa Delta Pi, an education honor society or something like that. A friend gave me some information on Kappa Kappa Iota, an education sorority. (I'm not talking about service vs. social for this discussion) :D

I'm in Phi Alpha Delta, the legal fraternity, and it has gotten me interviews. Also when I've been looking at resumes, i picked someone over an equally qualified person b/c he was involved w/ the same org.

I'm normally known in this thread as dapuzzler_1922:

I am apart of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc. and it has gotten me in with various companies that needed Computer Techs, which is good since one of my frat Brothers got me a job at a top notch company (can't say on here), as a Database Admin.

Professional greek-lettered orgs is a good way to get your feet in the door of many companies. You never know you might be in an organization that Hillary Clinton is apart of...you tell me if that won't get you in the door!

I'm a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, which is a sociological honor society. I haven't been able to use my membership to its full potential, due to the fact that I'm not using my sociology degree at the moment. So, for me, my membership has not helped.

I am a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. which is a business & professional sorority.

It has helped greatly with leadership development & business contacts.

Thanks! I'm in Alpha Chi (for general), and I'm going to be inducted into Alpha Kappa Mu (for general) and Kappa Delta Pi (for education). I figured that they couldn't hurt and you never know when it may help you out.

One of my sands is in Phi Delta Kappa (the teachers' sorority). She has made a lot of contacts among the membership (many of whom are also D9 members as well).

I'm in Alpha Chi Sigma Professional Chemistry Fraternity. I'm still in school, but it helped in making contacts for grad school.

I was also inducted into Chi Sigma Iota a counseling honor society but we don't call it a sorority/fraternity. It is a good way to meet folks in the counseling field though.
