NYC Summer Jam
I just read about DC's trouble at Summer Jam and was curious as to what other things went down. If you attended the show, how was it and who truly rocked the house. I hear the Theeee King of Pop was there Micheal Jackson, is that for real

Hey, this is my first time posting. I'm on the Hot97 e-mail click and I just received a Summer Jam 2001 recap via e-mail and decided to post it here. Here are the contents of the e-mail:
(Sorry this is so long and spaced out, I couldn't figure out how to condense it) SUMMER JAM 2001 HIGHLIGHTS LUDACRIS Hit the stage and Blazed us with his Dirty South flava as he performed Area Codes, Throw Them Bows, What’s Your Fantasy, Ho’s EVE Showed us why she’s the First Lady and held it down with her hits Blow Your Mind, Who’s That Girl, and repped for the females who get down for theirs with Gangsta B**** Lablemate Jadakiss hopped on stage and joined Eve to perform the street anthem Put Ya Hands Up followed by We Gon’ Make It! JA RULE Got the crowd moving to hits like I Cry, Between Me and You. Oh and what would a Ja Rule Summer Jam 2001 performance be without HOLLA and Put It On Me with special guest appearance by none other than VIDA! R. KELLY Hit the stage and made it a party with his hit Fiesta. He definitely made it hot for the ladies in the house with a Freestyle Thug Passion style! We had a surprise visit by Keith Murray who performed Home Alone with R. Kelly OUTKAST Live with members of the Dungeon Family, Big Boi and Andre 3000 took it to another level creatively with Throw Your Hands in the Air Then gave us a breath of fresh air with So Fresh (and) So Clean (Clean), Rosa Parks ( Hush dat fuss! Na’meen!), Ms. Jackson and Bombs over Baghdad DESTINY’S CHILD Set it off with So Good …and even though they did give a solid performance the crowd booed the pop icons! They still held it down and came back at the haters with Independent Women, Say My Name, Booty Licious (had the guys ready for that Jelly – HA!!) They thought that they could be saved by performing a Gospel Medley (a cappella) which truly displayed their vocal talent. They then showed the crowd why they sell as many albums as they have by performing Survivor (Did they really survive? Hmmmm…) THE ST. LUNATICS Came on before their front man NELLY Took to the stage with E I, Ride With Me, Country Grammar, and Midwest Swing Funk Master Flex got the crowd on their feet for none other than JAY-Z and the Roc-a-Fella Family. The crowd lost it as Hova stepped on stage with the signature phrase “I’m focused man”! Jay-Z kicked it off with his verses from Best of Me (as performed with Maya) JAY-Z then gave the crowd a surprise with a song dedicated to “People talking this and talking that…” During the performance of this song Hova displayed photos Prodigy of Mobb Deep taken when he was part of a Ballet Troop! The crowd went Bananas!!! Memphis Bleek joined his cohort on his song Is That Your Chick and later on with Mind Right. There was a special guest appearance by none other than Missy Elliot. She definitely got her Freak On! JAY-Z then gave us Can I Get A (What What) followed by 1900 Hustler followed which featured Roc-a-Fella’s new member Freeway. Also representin’ was Beenie Siegal. What’s My Name had the crowd screaming “Jigga”! Beenie and Memphis blessed us with a new joint off Beans’ new album. A 2001 version of EPMD’s So What You Sayin’. Erick Sermon then broke into his hit song which features the legendary Marvin Gaye, Music JAY-Z then came back with Give It To Me. His Honor thanked the crowd and performed an exclusive performance of IZO which will be a cut on his new album titled The Blueprint. To end the night, Jigga Man had a big surprise for the house; he told us he brought MICHAEL JACKSON If you were there you can recall the ill silence in the crowd. It was utter disbelief. JAY-Z actually had to walk off stage and when he returned, The living Legend MICHAEL JACKSON was really there! There was complete pandemonium at the Nassau Coliseum! Mike didn’t say much, no performance, nothing but a soft spoken ”I love you all”. That was all he had to say! The crowd rose to their feet as THE Michael Jackson exited the stage.
