Do you ever think....?
Are we really that bored that we spend this much time on Greek Chat playing random games and talking about stuff that doesn't matter?
I say this lovingly, because I am well aware that I am one of these people. I do find it funny, though. :) |
When you live in a 400-person town like me, no kidding, there's really no one to talk to after 8 at night, so I'm on here a lot. ;)
|
ha ha... Yeah. I live in a large college town, but I've been attached to my computer lately (my new ibook baby!), so there are only so many websites I can visit before I end up back here. But it's all right, I'm secure with my nerdiness!

Most of the people I hang out with IRL don't have long talks about oral rejectors, FUPA, circle jerks, etc. :D I like the anti-prudish atmosphere on GC. :)

The thought has crossed my mind on several occasions. When I get a bit critical of GC, I must reflect on myself as well.
It does fill some void, but I think it's a different "void" for different people. It really is a reflection of the world, just a different plane. All these people coming together for support or a sounding board when maybe, the communication we need isn't available in the real world. I do think that many of us go through stages where we use GC as a crutch and don't work as hard on relationships or communicating with people we can touch or look straight in the eye. Also, Dionysus makes an excellent point-Most of the people I hang out with IRL don't have long talks about oral rejectors, FUPA, circle jerks, etc. I like the anti-prudish atmosphere on GC. Social restraints or judgments can hinder creativity or philosophical discussions. For someone MY age, it's difficult to find people who are interested in some of the subjects I find stimulating. Heck, I like to laugh and most people just aren't that funny! Besides,I get the biggest kick when Valkyrie and I actually agree on something!:p |
it is nice that there are other people alive and awake at 5 a.m. each day.
|
I have someone who I can "drink coffe" with in this little cyber world!:D
|
When you work in a job as boring as mine...where all I do all day is point and click, point and click, point and click, you spend a lot of time on GC because it helps to keep you from dying of boredom!

I work at home ( for not much longer ) and a stay at home mom and a single mom i have no outside life so i have to adult interaction as trivial as it may be :)
