Help! I'm Graduating!
Hello ladies, i am graduating in may and unfortunately i was not accepted from the only graduate school that i applied for. i am a psychology major and i would love to be a marriage and family therapist. however, i have no clue what to do for a year while i wait to apply to this program again. i have considered moving there and just taking some hours that will transfer if i get in next year. but i really need a job, however i can't seem to find one, or i don't know what to look for. i would really appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice on what to do because as of right now, i'm completely clueless. thanks!

I have no advice for you, unfortunately... I ended up taking a job that I didn't want because I was so desperate for one. However, if you decide for whatever reason to move to the Charlotte area, let me know. I need a roommate so that I can get out of my parent's house!!!!

I somewhat understand where you are coming from. I am doing my student teaching right now and will be graduating in May also. So the big decision for me is to find a job since anywhere I want to go to grad school is way past accepting applications and admitting students into the program. I've even considered moving to Raleigh to teach too....still thinking about that one....
I think you should consider your options. You can either a) stay home try to find a job, or b) move to charlotte (i assume thats where you are looking to go), find a job and/or take classes. Either way you will still be able to apply again for grad school admittance next year. Whatever you do, take you time making your decisions, you don't want to rush into something that you might not be happy with later on. There's my .02. Sometimes I should take my own advice too.... |
find an internship, stat! i'm sure there are offices in your area that offer positions to recent grads and even if it's unpaid it's a way to get your foot in the door.
you might also want to try family shelters (they're always in need of volunteers!) in your area that specialize in getting homeless families back on their feet with regard to jobs, relationships, etc. again, it would be an unpaid gig, but would look great on a resume and be a wonderful way to bide your time while applying to schools. |
