Perhaps those schools where the Greeks have larger than 150
member chapters...perhaps....if they would cut down to 80-90
members, this might entice new groups to enter. But, really, who
wants to buck heads with a five million dollar house, 2,000 alums and a 200 member chapter? At CU some of the women's groups
have more inactive members than active....what kind of experience is that? Is a 90 member pledge class meaningful?
I realize that real estate, codes, risk management, etc. make it most difficult to keep one's head above water...but the system is
worth saving. Hope Congress gives the Greeks some relief as to
tax breaks or assistance on maintaining the living arrangements.
It is too bad that the "diverse" or "ethnic" groups have chosen to
be by themselves. We prided ourselves many years ago in that
we were able to pledge any and all. Now it is more segregated
than forty years ago...oh, well, just some thoughts for you-all.
