Do You TiVo?

I see that it's "on sale". Does anyone own one?

SKEEphistAKAte 03-23-2004 05:53 PM

Not me

I don't own one, but my sister does. She uses it to record all of the episodes of Dora the Explorer and Blues Clues for my daughter. She loves her TiVo.

I would love, love, love a tivo. But my current salary cannot afford it. My girlfriend has one and loves it.

I had major 'tude when my husband came home with a new DirecTV/Tivo box. I thought it was another unnecessary electronic expense. I had to eat major crow however because Tivo is the best thing since sliced bread! You can search by title ("Wonder if Sparkle is coming on?), by actor or actress or by theme (i.e. for my husband, anything related to the Cincinnati Bengals) and have it record the shows. You can do a "season pass" and record all of the episodes of a show. I hardly ever recorded shows with a regular VCR, but I do it all the time with my TiVO. We are actually thinking about getting another one because I hold the main TV in the faimly room hostage sometimes catching up on my shows!

...Mr.Eclipse is clearly a visionary leader, who, while hated on initially, has provided entertainment leadership for yalls' house :D

Eclipse, your sentence for 1st degree hatoration? ...more Bengals gear.

I had one, and I loved it! No more missing shows, no more hunting for blank video tapes! I hate that the only way you can get a TiVo like system in Canada is to have satellite TV.

I don't have TiVo, but I have a DVR (Digital Video Recorder). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! It's offered thought my cable company (Time Warner) and it's only $7.00/per month!!! :D One time it broke and I felt just like Miranda from SATC.

How long are the 'notes' for the DVR (dats what I really want)?

What are the notes? Are you referring to how much it can record?

AKA2D '91 03-24-2004 01:58 PM

lol. lmao. How long do you have to pay $7.00/month? Im trying to figure if it's cost effective to pay the cable company per month as opposed to buying one for $300 or so. Ya know?

(lmao@ myself. I had so much on my mind...I didn't finish my thought. LOL @ myself)

It might be more cost effective to pay the $300. Our service is $7.00 per month because we got one when it first came out. I believe now our cable company charges $10.00 per month.

LOL! visionary?!?!

I had to cut that Bengals mess out with a quickness. We were getting every little show on the Ohio version of Fox Sports and even some nature shows when he put "Bengals" as a requirement. That's why we need a new TiVo. I have co-opped the main one and now he can't record his shows without discussing it with me first. One of my shows dropped off one time before I got to watch it because of some Bengals mess. It ain't even football season!! :D

I have a Replay TV (very much like TiVo) and I LOVE IT.
I reacted the same was as Eclipse... I couldn't understand what possible use this would be, but I'm converted. We rarely watch anything when it's on anymore, and it's so nice to skip all the commercials. Plus, we can save important episodes of shows so that we can say "But didn't Character X say the exact opposite 2 episodes ago?"

Now FH wants to buy one for the bedroom, so that we can go to bed halfway through a show and finish it in the bedroom, but he hasn't sold me on that idea quite yet. I'm afraid we'll never leave bed on the weekends (not that that would be Soooo horrible ;) )

I was so mad when Oprah gave away Tivo on one of her favorite things episodes. I want one so bad! I've got all of my friends wanting one to. I hope in the next few years the price will go down like every new thing so that I can get it. Right now it's not in my budget:(
