Man Runs Over ExWife and Mother-in-Law
 

MILTON, Florida (AP) -- A 69-year-old man rammed a pickup truck into his ex-wife's home and then ran her and her 85-year-old mother down as they tried to flee, killing them both, authorities said.

Carl Junices Bryan, who was arrested Sunday, was being held without bail on two counts of murder.

Sheriff's officials said Bryan drove his truck into Becky Ann Langford's home early Sunday, leaving a gaping hole in the corner of the house near her bedroom.

Langford, 59, and her mother, Queen Victoria Franklin, tried to get away but Bryan chased them down in the truck -- running one down, then the next, in the front yard, authorities said.

"He planned it out," said Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office spokesman Jerry Henderson. He said the center of Bryan's steering wheel was wrapped in rope, apparently to prevent the air bag from deploying.

Tire marks crisscrossed the front yard, a lamppost was flattened and two cars that had been parked in the driveway were smashed.

"I thought somebody just ran off the road and hit the (house)," said a neighbor, Keith Hines. "Then I came outside and saw the bodies. It doesn't make any sense."

Hines said he tried to help the victims, but Bryan threatened to shoot him and chased him away in his truck. Deputies said he also tried to run down arriving paramedics. Authorities said Bryan was arrested after his truck came to a stop nearby.

According to court records, Langford and Bryan divorced last March.

I can't understand what these people to deserve this!! I've been hearing all kind of crazy stories like this all week. CT4...did you hear about the man who is accused of killing his children and grandchildren (they ranged in age from 2yrs. to about 24yrs.) and had them in his house. I saw that this morning. And it was said that he fathered 2 of his grandkids with 2 of his daughters!!!! Talk about sick!!!!!

OKLAHOMA CITY (Reuters) - An Oklahoma woman dialed a wrong number and ended up under arrest after she tried to set up a drug deal with her former parole officer, police said on Tuesday.



Patricia Michel was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of the unlawful distribution of a dangerous controlled substance at her home in Durant, Oklahoma, near the Texas border.


Michel called her former parole officer, Doug Canant, on his cell phone by mistake, thinking he could help set up a deal where she could acquire methamphetamines, police said.


"I am a bit of a joker, so I was playing along," Canant said in a telephone interview. "She thought she was talking to her local drug dealer."


She told the parole officer she did not have money to buy drugs because she was waiting for her U.S. tax refund and wanted to exchange one type of drug for another, Canant said.


Acting on Canant's tip, the local drug task force sent agents to Michel's house and set up a deal. She handed over two pills that were controlled substances and instead of getting drugs, she got arrested, police said.


Michel has been released on bond but faces between two years to life in prison if convicted. If she receives parole, she may have Canant as her parole officer again.


"It is a small town and there are only three of us (parole officers). It will be the luck of the draw," Canant said.

Toddler Finds Very Valuable Battery In Remote

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Billy D'Onofrio's inquisitive nature has made his family a whole lot richer.

The 21-month-old boy from Brewster opened the battery compartment on his family's TV remote control. One of the batteries that fell out was purple -- and the word "winner" was on it.

The battery is worth $100,000 as part of a promotional campaign by Duracell. The company randomly inserted 12 of the batteries in packages.

Billy's parents put the batteries in the remote without looking at them. They say Billy likes to push buttons and make random phone calls. There was tape over the TV remote to keep him from changing channels.

The D'Onofrios will pick up their big check Thursday.

I know those parents gave Billy a big old kiss. I bet they were also glad they did not buy the Dollar Tree Panasonic batteries.:D :o

Dang how I miss purple batteries in the Duracell SEE THROUGH containers? I wonder if Billy needs a babysitter?

Life in prison? For two pills? Am I the only one who thinks that this is absurd?

I think it's the good old mandatory sentancing rearing it's ugly head again because I believe she had a previous drug conviction. It really will depend on the judge.

or a TOY like Richard Pryor was back in the 80s, lol.

...if there were plyers on the TV and it was sitting on top of a floor model that no longer worked, then we know the D'Onofrios do indeed have some color up in the family tree. :D

Man shot to death as prank escalates

FORT WORTH - A man's game of keep-away with a 16-year-old girl's hairpiece turned deadly Wednesday night when the girl's mother shot the man, who had reportedly been pestering the girl, investigators said.

Detectives say Joedell Newton, 22, snatched the hair extension off the head of a 16-year-old friend, refusing to give it back unless the girl begged for it, said homicide Detective Cheryl Johnson.

The girl eventually went inside her apartment while Newton remained outside, clowning around with the fake ponytail, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

A witness told police the man placed the hairpiece on his head and asked everyone if they liked his new hair. He then put the hair in some water and made a "mud pie" out of the hair, telling others in the area he was going to throw it in the 16-year-old girl's face when she came out of the apartment, the affidavit stated.

Johnson said someone then knocked on the girl's door, and her mother, Dorothy Claivil, 36, opened the door.

The girl told her mother, "Don't worry about the ponytail because whatever they did with it, I don't want it," the affidavit stated.

Claivil then closed the door. Johnson said someone continued to knock on the family's door multiple times.

The mother opened the door again and shot Newton once in the arm, Johnson said.

Police say the bullet traveled into Newton's chest. He was later pronounced dead at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Claivil volunteered to talk with investigators at the downtown police station. She told detectives that a man kept knocking on her door, and she told him to go away, the affidavit stated.

She denied shooting the man, stating that she only heard the gunshot and had no further information, the affidavit stated.

Claivil was subsequently arrested on a murder warrant and was being held in Mansfield Jail on Thursday with bail set at $100,000.

"We're still investigating the case to verify all the facts and details and locate the witnesses," Johnson said.
