Philanthropy
I had to do a mass pruning of my PMs and lost one concerning ideas for philanthropy. Well, today I was the recipient of something that I think would be a WONDERFUL project to do, either alone or with a fraternity. Unfortunately, it doesn't support RMH, but I've shown it to others today, and it seems to be a huge winner!
If you want the details, send me your email address, and I'll send you the idea, en masse later this week! |
Woud it be good for an alumnae association also? What about a church youth group (I'm trying to plan a philathropy project for the girls' youth group at church right now)?
|
I think this would be a great service project for everyone! I'll be typing it out a little later, so that I'll have it ready to send out.

I'm one of the leaders in our college group at church. We don't have an ADPi chapter near us, but we have tons of Phi Mu girls in our group. We meet once a month in small groups and do things so I would love to hear about your project. My email is Tggrsluv2bnce@yahoo.com.
Thanks! |
PM it to me Honey!!

They are ready. I'll pm them to those who asked!

Any thoughts, reactions?
It's going over HUGE here!! |
I think that it is a fabulous project! Thanks for sending it!!

On the 1st read, I think it sounds great! I want to read it over again & really "digest" it. I love your PR suggestion also.

This is off of the current discussion, but the best thread for my question... :)
During Recrutiment we have a Philanthropy Round which consists of a small project. The year before last we made coloring books for RMH, and last year we made 'Bands of Courage' for RMH... Most of the girls I've talked to enjoyed these projects, but we're trying to come up with new things. Any suggestions for short fun projects to do during Recruitment? Thanks in advance!!! |
Quote:
* Badge of Courage - make a little template of a lion, print on cardstock, cut and color during the parties. Attach a small paper band around it so it will cover up scary IV's. **also can be modified as a door hanger * Wish bracelets (each bead stands for a different kind of good thought-- strength, health, happiness...) * Put together a journal for kids to write their thoughts and feelings. Drop off at RMH. * Decorate little crowns for the kids at RMH-- so they can be "Prince or Princess For a Day"-- decorate with bright colors, little plastic gems, glitter, mylar fringe, etc. * Cut out large hearts and select a short poem (about friendship, bravery, etc.) At the party, write the poem in with a paint pen and decorate the outline of the heart with glitter, markers, cut outs, etc. (RMH is the house that love built!)-- these hearts can then be posted on the doors at RMH, and the children's wing of the hospital it supports. From experience.... Avoid regular paints-- they are messy and the PNMs can spill on themselves, which embarrasses them and makes them anxious about your chapter and the other parties that they have to go to Anything that doesn't require great artistic ability is good-- something like coloring is a great activity b/c it requires little thought, but is distracting enough so that the PNM's forget to be nervous. Also something less complicated will be easier to complete and won't give the non-crafty PNM's an anxiety attack! Also, remember... your crafts may be getting "old" to you... but they're brand new to the PNMs :) |
Thanks for the great ideas!
I will pass these on to our Philanthropy chair! |
