Bible Challenge: Prayer's Requested

On February 14th, my best friend and I decided to take the challenge of reading the entire Bible in one year. We feel that this task will hopefully improve our relationship with God and make us stronger Christians (as well as help our friendship). Now we're on Corinthians (we started with the new testament). We read anywhere from 5 -10 Chapters a day.

I'm just asking for you all to keep me in your prayers and keep encouraging me along the way. It's so easy to want to pick up the EJD or Zane like I'm used to, but this is something I really want and NEED to do.

Have any of you successfully completed reading the entire bible? If so, please offer some words of wisdom/ encouragement.

Thanks and God bless!

My prayers are withyou as well. One bible that may help you is The Life Application Bible published by Tyndale.

It looks huge ;) but the majoity of it is footnotes that explain how each verse applies to your life. It also includes a "read the bible in a year" guide as well.

I haven't read the enitre bible in one year, but I know you can do it! :D

The Life Application Bible is definitely the best one for your needs if you plan on reading the Bible is a year. Reading and understanding are two different things.. so be prepared to go deep, be confused, and enlightened all at the same time. GOOD LUCK;) ;)

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definately look into that Bible. The one I'm using right now is pretty good as well. It's the Zondervan NIV Study Bible -Compact.

It too comes with alot of notes which have been extremely helpful along the way.

P.S. I just finished Corinthians last night, on to Galatians!:)

I may have to check the Zondervan version out. Galatians is GOOD as well so be prepared for some life changing insight.

Augustskyz, are you journaling as well?

Augystskyz 03-15-2004 01:15 AM

As far as journaling, I have a few sources from my church, my family, and my friends that I try to inquire with them on any questions I might have on any topics that are hard to understand. I haven't been keeping an active journal however. I never really thought to do that. Now that you've mentioned that, I think I will start doing that so i can use that as reference to go back and look on. Thanks for the suggestion!

Not to mention a year from now, you'll be able to look back and see how far spirituality you've come. :D

I may try this next January.

I definately recommend this to everyone to do. I've really noticed some very BIG changes in my lifestyle and feel like I've grown significantly spirtually as well. Blessings just keep coming from everywhere and what a great feeling that is!!

I'm going through the same thing, I have a student bible which will take you through three specific sections, each two weeks in duration. It also has a six month plan and three year plan. Its a student bible and for the life of me I cant remember what it is called right now. I'm taking it in smaller versions b/c I know I get frustrated easily.

And I admit I got this new job two days after I started reading the Bible. :D

I try to spend at least 45 mins each night reading, with the TV and radio off so I can concentrate on the Word. And I've only missed one day b/c I was VERY tired. Yay me!

I'll ETA to give the specific sections and name of the Bible later. :) My study Bible
