Dream expansions (stolen from Pi Phi)
Where would you love to see Tri Delta colonize (or re-colonize)?
Personally, I would love to see us at 1) any school in Wisconsin -- right now we're the only one. A recolonization of our Beloit chapter or a colonization at Marquette would be so much fun, although neither of those schools will be up for expansion any time soon. 2) Washington University in St. Louis -- we used to have a chapter there and I would love to see it back. 3) Harvard or any of the other Ivies we're not at. I know we were up for the Harvard expansion but lost out to KKG, and I don't know if Harvard will be expanding again any time soon. |
Any school on Long Island! I know how you feel about being the only one. Adelphi is the only one on the island. There are more in New York, but they're all upstate. The closest to us is Princeton, I think. Hofstra or St. John's would be nice, they are always up for expansion. Hofstra is right down the street from Adelphi too. SUNY Stoneybook maybe, but I don't think they're looking to expand.
If not Long Island, then NYU. That's close too, about a half hour on the LIRR. |
Well, fortunately Tridelta is pretty constantly spread around the country at nearly every large school but if I had a say-so in expansion...
Recolonize at Arizona State, Bucknell, and Oregon...I believe that these were all pretty strong chapters before they closed. How great would it be if we had no closed chapters? That would be amazing! |
That would be cool if all the chapter were still open. But did you know that Bucknell just closed in December? I was shocked. Our alumi chapter president was from Bucknell and she was really upset.
On a brighter note - did anyone else see that the Butler chapter is recolonzing in the fall? It was just put on the website. |
I saw about Butler on the website too.
I hear goldendelta on the NY thing...add NJ to the list. I tell my friends what sorority I'm in, and they all go "is that a local?" no, i was a local; now i'm a national. DPhiE is big in NJ. I would like to see Tri Delta at some DC area schools, GW or Georgetown, American etc...it would also be great if more schools recognized greeks. Ivy sounds nice. |
Bucknell got closed for risk management violations, although I don't think they ever said what exactly.
http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...threadid=43515 I like the idea of DC schools -- or reopening Canadian chapters, although I know that is tough. I'd love to see a lot of our closed chapters recolonized. I'm excited about the Butler recolonization. I'd love to see ASU and Oregon back although I'm not sure ASU will be expanding anytime soon and the Oregon chapter closed pretty recently, so I'm not sure if they'd be ready to come back yet. For a while I wanted to see Michigan State back since they were the only Big 10 chapter we didn't have, but now that Minnesota's closing that won't be the case -- and Minnesota is definitely not ready for expansion anytime soon. |
Sugar and Spice,
Do you know why Oregon closed, I had heard they had been a pretty strong chapter. I wonder if it is similar reasons as Bucknell? |
The letter from Sarah Lindsay in the newest Trident talks about the closing of Bucknell. Has anyone seen it yet?
She says that Bucknell was placed on probation 3 times since 1998. Apparently it was the "result of risk magangement violations involving alcohol and/or hazing"...and they tried to cover-up whatever incident caused the final closing. There is also the name of a certain GCer from Adelphi in the Life Loyal section, and a picture of some Tri Delts from Wisconson. I wonder if any of out GC deltas are in that picture....??? I saw the issue and started flipping in front of my mom and went "ooh, thats sugar and spice's chapter, i thinK" and she looked at me funny. filp a few more pages "i think thats goldendelta". I swear she thinks i'm nuts now, lol |
I'm in the Trident? Whoo-hoo! I didn't get mine yet.
We had a Deltas Only dinner last night and I found out that Sarah Lindsay's daughter is a new member of Tri Delta. I forgot what chapter though. Keeping on expansion though. I always thought it would be cool to open a chapter in Hawaii - until I went there! It's a five hour flight from LA (not to mention 10 hours from NY). I could only imagine being a FC going there for colonization. |

I'm not in the picture but a couple of my pledge sisters are -- the blonde in the upper left corner and the dark-haired girl in the very front. :) The woman with short dark hair in the back right is our alum advisor. As for the closing at Oregon -- the article on Bucknell in the Trident says that it's the first time a Tri Delt chapter has ever been closed for alcohol and hazing violations, so I imagine all the other closings were probably for numbers. I don't know much about Oregon but from what I do know, they were having a lot of internal issues that translated into a numbers problem. |
I'd like to see a chapter in New York City, like NYU or Stetson in Staten Island. I'd also like one at Tulane, since that's where I went to undergrad. :)

Then there is NYU. Yes. That's the best place to look now. There are 3 NPC groups and 4 locals. The expansion policy is less rigid than Columbia's, but I'm not certain of the details. If you want to feel out the locals, to see if one wants to affiliate, PM me, and I'll fill you in on more details. |

well since this was stolen from my sorority, I'll add in my opinion ;)
I'd like to see DDD at Monmouth College. PiPhi was founded at Monmouth, and we sometimes hang with them....it would just be nice for the Knox Tri Delts to have another chapter SO close by. |
