High Stakes Voting in VA

I was listening to the Tavis Report on the Tom Joyner Website a few minutes ago.

Tavis was speaking of the recent death of Norman Sisisky, long term congressman from the state of Virginia. Sisisky (D)'s death is extremely untimely in light of the recent shift in power from Republican to Democrat thanks to Cong. Jefferds.

Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore has made it so that the special election can take place as speedily as possible instead of waiting for the main election for the districts that will take place within the next two weeks. That race is "high stakes" as well as it will decide the governor and senate races....very critical indeed.

According to USA Today, both Republicans and Democrats will put tremendous amounts of money toward this special election to ensure that their candidate wins.

I post this because it's interesting to note that Republicans were swift to move this vote to a special election and because of the untimeliness. It's high stakes because of the fact that the Black vote will be the deciding factor in the current balance of power in the House. In addition, the political games being played are especially interesting, especially if you're a conspiracy theorist or an observer of U.S. Politics.

What are your thoughts about this? Isn't it interesting that the vote is on today, Juneteenth?

Miss. Nikki,

I agree with you. I heard about the death earlier this morning and just shook my head. The Republican and Democrats are in my opinion acting like canines, staking claim on their territory. Excuses my language but who ever "pisses" on the yard has the control. In this instance the yard is full of American people. Let us not be bamboozled by the politicians. My philosophy is if you don't look out for you no one else will.

Thank you for bringing such important news to the forefront.

I know this is another tread but I found all those different smiles on that website but I do not know how to post them on GC, could someone please tell me.

Thanks,
Sisterfriend,
Endroad

The Republican party gained the seat in Congress. Here's the story.
