Your place on the yard?

Greetings all,

I have noticed more so on HBCUs that when a fraternity or sorority does not occupy a house on campus that they have little ares representing them on the yard, where they meet up and hang out. Whether it be a plot, a hill, a painted tree, bench, porch, wall, light post. What was yours on your campus?
Also did people respect it as yours?

Peace and Love :-)

At my HBCU we have a tree and the surronding area decorated. We have white stones that represent each founder. We have ivy leaf wrapped around the tree (thats painted pink and green) As well as beautiful sign with our sorority name and chapter. We also have wooden letters of 1940 (the year the chapter was founded). Can you believe though our sign has been kicked in twice. The haters http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif on the yard sometimes make it hard to keep up. So we just move on and think they know that were:

"Pretty on my left, I'm pretty on my right I'm so pretty you can't sleep at night"!!!!! ( Naughty soror no chants on this board!)

While I was in school, we had 2 areas.

Our first area was our "hill". We had, well they have, a big Ivy leaf where colored rocks, pink and green of course are inside. Well, acutally, I don't know, but that's the way WE had it decorated. There are 2 park benches on 2 sides, and a wall near the street, where the IVY falls BEHIND http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif which has the greek letters for Alpha Theta, and 1951, the year the chapter was founded. This is our 50th AKAversary, ya'll! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Our Second area was (no longer exists because the main highway through the campus was widened to 4-lanes, thus requiring our area and another orgs "plot" to become dismantled, if you will). http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

Anyway, it had a brick bottom (pink) with a Ivy Leaf which extended like 6 feet above the brick bottom. The Ivy had our chapter name and founding year. If any of you attend Alabama State or have been on its campus, we got the idea from the Soror's "plot".

The Kappas had a staircase, the Ques had a statue, the Sigmas and Zetas had a spot in front of the Financial Aid Office, the AKA's had a large beautiful inscribed slab of Italian Pink Marble with green specks, the Deltas had a tree, the Alphas had a spot outside the Cafe.

We had a "plot". In addition in front of most of the plots was a painted walkway with the BGLO's colors in front of them that no one but greeks were supposed to walk on (out of respect).
