Common misconceptions people have about you
 

Inspired by the "Top questions people ask you" thread.....

What are do people believe to be true about you, that's not at all?

Because I like higher-end stuff, like Tiffany jewelry, Prada, Coach, etc., people assume I'm a gold-digger--or extremely superficial. I personally could give two shits what other people have. I just like expensive stuff. :cool:

That's the main one. Other people seem to assume I have lots of boyfriends (I wish!!!) while certain family members believe I NEVER date (also not true) because I never bring guys to family functions.

that's a lot like me. my dad spoils me, so everyone thinks im a superficial brat when really i never asked for anything... he just gives stuff to me randomlly.

also, ppl think im some crazy femnazi bitch bc i am a feminist and work with women's groups in my city. for some reason ppl assume feminist = bitch. not true!

and i can especially relate to the guys thing. my extended family and dad probably think i have never even been on a date bc when i was very young (were talking like 7 years old here) i was shy around boys. they still see me as that 7 yr old, and since they live so far away, they have kept that mindset. but on the other side of the coin, ppl i barely know think ive had a million bf's simply bc im in a sorority... which is so not true, i've dated my share, but i've only had one real bf.

Well I just found out my mother has had suspicions that I'm a lesbian! Just because I have short hair. No, sorry mom, me lovey the peenie too much for that!

Also, people think that I hate my "race" which is absolutely untrue. I am sympathetic to the plights of ALL people!

People have always though my family was rich even though we're just like everybody else...maybe it's because I'm anal about wearing clean, pressed clothes or something. Who knows.

I also get the "miss goody-goody" accusation because I don't drink much.

Oh, and some people tend to think I'm very racist...my family is, I won't lie, but I don't think I am.

Some people think I'm a "sell out" to my ethnicity because not all that interested in the whole bubble tea/kareoke craze.

People come into My Store and Think I have a Degree of Ear Bending by Morons who want to tell me about their kids, Pets, surgery, or anything else!:( Trust me there is a lot more! Jail food always gets me! Yes, it do suck! DA!

God, the only thing I want in Sympathy is SEX!;)

Just because I'm Jewish and American, people assume I'm a JAP.

When people find out I'm a Jew by choice, they often assume that I converted for my husband's sake. Nope - I chose my own path for my own reasons, and if he'd insisted that I convert for him, we would not be married today.

A number of my associates think my husband and I are trying to start a family. Not yet - stop looking at me as if you expect a baby to pop out any second!

These same associates believe that I will cheerfully quit my job and be a stay-at-home mom. Nope, not gonna happen.

Some people think that because I'm a librarian, I am real straight-laced, uptight, goody-goody.

Boy, do I have them fooled!!:p

a few ppl have a few misconceptions about me....

1. they think i am a spoiled lil rich girl because my house and car , college and all furnishings were pretty much paid for by my grandparents before, during and after marriage but in fact that they come to find out i am the most unspoiled person ever and i give thanks for the blessings i have on a daily basis.

2. they realize i am not a dumb blonde and that i am pretty smart and that i have a good head on my shoulders and can give pretty good advice.


3. They think that I am terminally happy all the time and i never get down or have a bad day....... i only let ppl see what i want them to see....

and i am not a goodie goody! yes i have let a very sheltered life and yes i go to church and yes i dont party but i not so blind as others think i am.

Because I am quiet and pretty shy, people always think I'm a bitch and stuck up... once they get to know me and I open up, they realize that is completely wrong.

Also, people always think I am really innocent. I guess it's because I look like I'm still in high school rather than a junior in college and because I'm just really cute, as opposed to pretty or sexy... and by the way, I HATE always being called cute. Why can't I be hot for once???

I hate it!

i am very shy have always been shy and i can be very quiet if i dont know you and some preceive it to be i am a stuck up bitch . I have a terminal case of shyness if i dont know ppl in a gathering i am quiet or i can be a chatterbox because i am very nervous and get that label all the time...... OOOOOH i hate that!

People think I have a boyfriend and are surprised to find out I don't... I'm happily single, too busy concentrating on a career for a boyfriend right now.

People think I don't eat anything or that I work out all the time... as I've stated it's just my high metabolism.

People think that since I have a degree in music I will know any song they ask me about. Someone at work asked who wrote this one-hit-wonder 50's song and when I didn't know got miffed...get a life!

Also, people tend to assume that I wouldn't know about anything BUT music. Most people are very surprised to find out that I am well-educated in MANY areas.

People think that since I am thin I must be really comfortable about my body. Let's put it this way - when I finally hit the C-cup in 8th grade, I wore sports bras to flatten my chest...so, no, we are not all satisfied or comfortable. Everyone has insecurities.

People up here assume that I hold certain political or social beliefs just because I am southern. Yes, I am Christian and southern, but that doesn't mean I believe that a woman's place is in the home or that gay people are going to hell!

eta: and the newest one is that I dye my hair blonde, because I dyed it brown to avoid misconception #1. Well, I got my senior portraits/composite pictures back and decided my hair looked like crap. So i dyed it back to its orginal color....or so I thought. I'm about 2 shades too blonde, and now it kinda does look fake when I pull it back

I don't get my stuff done because I'm denots a lot; wrong buddy, ask anyone who knows the workload I carry.

I can't compete well in sports because I'm chunky; even my biggest critics have said it: "Stan is pretty agile for a fat guy." Don't let the flab fool ya, I can defend that goal for a full 90 minutes.

I crave drama; nope, I just give stuff more thought than you do.
