Congrats to Mu Chapter at the U of MN

They took first place in the 2nd annual Midwest Greek Show here in Minneapolis. A Kappa chapter from Milwaukee was 2nd.

The MN Deltas were the only sorority that stepped, so they won by default. BUT they were GOOD and would have won anyway. :D

Congrats to Delph998 for coordinating a fun event of which the proceeds will benefit a youth development program

Good job Delph. Too bad it ain't enough Bruhs in Minnesota to do the "lil' man" step let alone field a step team. Two Bruh teams stepped in one show in my town on Sat nite. Congrats to the Alphas.

Uh Doggy, the bruhs did step. I ain't even going to begin to talk about what they did. Suffice it to say, I was a judge and I couldn't even give them props.

For real, LadyGreek?!?!

I thought they did well...for two weeks of practice, that is.

That is what I mean. I could get 5 random Bruhs downtown coming out of their offices and do better. Bruhs don't like snow in March!!! Thats not what our gold boots are for.

I don't call having a 300+ pound man, stripped from the waist up and spray painted gold with boobs bigger than mine jiggling everytime he moved, doing well. But then that's just me. Just like I don't like seeing women doing a grit face with their tongues hanging out. (But that's a whole another discussion ;) )

I might have thought differently if the show was targeted to college students and up. But it was a family affair and it benefited a program that is teaching young Black boys and girls, dignity, respect, and high self-esteem. So maybe next year that should be emphasized to the step teams, because I did hear comments from kids and parents about the tongues and old boy's but and gut hanging out.

The Alphas gave a truly great performance that emphasized choreography and precision. The Kappas were classy. My bruhs--well, the 2 weeks may explain it (and even the Que judge sitting next to me seemed embarrassed)--sorry Doggy. :p

But like I said, Del, you did a good job coordinating it and getting teams to step.

Okay, okay! I understand what you're saying. So what about the Kappas and the thongs they took out of their pockets. Was that tasteful? Let me know.

Thanks though Ladgreek! Next year bigger, better, more step teams. The AKAs and the SGRhos said that next year it's on and poppin'. I hope so.

Del :D

Actually no, not for the audience. But we also weren't bombarded with it through the whole show. And I did take points off for it. Again it may be just a matter of making sure the teams know who they are stepping for.

I figured the other sororities would be psyched to do it next year. That will be great.

delph998 03-11-2004 04:54 PM

They were explicitely told that this is a family event and children will be there. They also knew there was a "tastefulness" category. So they knew. One judge took all of their points away after the thongs. I thought that was a bit harsh, but not my place because I wasn't judge. Thanks again for doing it. I enjoyed everybody's show.
