Am I the only one who thinks this...
Hi sisters, I gotta question:
Am I the only one who doesn't like our national website? I mean, it's great that we have a website, but there are just so many things wrong with it... -It needs to be kept updated. On the homepage, there is a link that says **member news- updated often**; but when you click on it, the news is dated September! -It's not that informative. Sure, it tells about our history, but not a lot about what we do now, about how our chapters are set up, etc. -The Beta Links page is just confusing to go through. Some of the chapters list where they are located, others just have the chapter name. -We have an 800 contact number (which is listed in the Torch), but it is not listed on the website. I think more people would contact BSP if they didn't have to dial the long-distance number. Don't get me wrong, I really love our organization. It's just that I look at the national websites of other sororities and just find ours so lacking... I realize that we also have the BetaJournal, which is pretty informative, but if you were not a Beta, and were looking for info, you would go to betasigmaphi.org, not to betajournal.com. I just feel that the national website could use some improvement. I'll stop my ranting now. Let me know if I'm totally out of line. ;) Your sister, Nicole |
Nope. I dislike the website as well. Some of the changes I'd like to see are:
-updated content. When they changed the site over to this version, they didn't update any of the content on it, just the layout. -a better sisters only side. One that required each sister to log in individually instead of the mass login used right now. It would have a more organized message board (similar to greekchat would make me happy :) )a way to pay dues and update your records online. - A listing of all chapters, and links to all chapter/council websites. - updated gifts section. Right now only a fraction of available merchandise is shopwn online, and you still have to order it the old fashioned way. I'd love to see all products shown on line (in color instead of in b&w like the torch) and be able to order them online - all official and relevant materials moved from the betajournal to the international website, and sensitive materials placed in the sisters only side. - I'd love to see the actual Torch online, in PDF format, like other sororities do. - the ability to submit chapter minutes, reports, and yardsticks online, either thought the website or by email. I think the sorority's general attitude towards technology and the importance of websites will have change before anything gets done. |
I agree
As a potential member I also think the website needs to be changed. Having a list of all the active chapters would be great and updated news is crucial too. I also think the site looks a little...old-fashioned. Just my .02 cents.
Has anyone written to Int'l about the changes they'd like to see to the site? |
Just my .02 cents

I think if Int'l gets several letters at once perhaps they may look into especially Laura who oversees the online chapters (at least she seems to be into the technology). |
I agree...
The Beta website does need to be brought up to speed a tad.
We just had the same conversation about bringing up the local Junior League's website to speed too. I didn't think much of it until the discussion and then I went and looked at it again and understand what they meant. :) Mizpah! |
This topic is also on the Beta B.B. (around 4/19-23rd ish)

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't been to the BB in a while, but I just posted my suggestions on it. :)
