Introduction: Recently, a NBC News reported that the average age for marriage is rising. The report suggested that this may be the result of higher standards that individuals have for their mate. So, today, I ask you about your standards via your compilation of requirements, you know, your LIST.

The Question(?): Most of us, over the course of our single days, have compiled a list of characteristics that we'd love our mate to possess. These lists are often counseled in our heads when we meet spousal prospects or in our general dating situations. Some of us have written this list on paper.

Do you have a LIST? What characteristics must your mate possess according to your list? What things would you be willing compromise on your list?

Married folks: What things were on your list? Did you find the mate that possessed your requirements?

My list for a potential mate:

Saved
Sanctified
Filled w/ The Hly Ghost
Sold-Out for Jesus
Financially Independent
Stable (emotionally)
Intelligent (prefer someone w/ a college degree or some sort of professional training)
No Children
Nonsmoker
Nondrinker (*don't get me wrong..an occasional celebratory drink is fine...but none of that beer everyday/heavy drinking stuff)
Musically Inclined
Sensitive
Understanding
Romantic
Luvable
Respectful
and definitely NOT MARRIED BEFORE

I didn't have a "list" of the qualities that I wanted in a mate....BUT I did have a list of the qualities that I DID NOT WANT http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif... When I dated I looked for the basic qualities that we all look for, ya know...
-shared some of the same religious beliefs
settled(not chasing everything in a skirt)
-stability
-sense of humor http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif
-educated
-good work ethic
-good with finances
-trustworthy

and other qualities that are important to me....BUT the selling point or bonus is...my husband CAN FIX THINGS!!...cars, things in and outside of the house,etc...

6)Knowledgeable of the Word of God
7)Attends church regularly and is involved in the church's ministry's
8)Has a financial plan
9)Sent and ordained by God to be my husband
