Polar Bear Plunge
I'm going to be doing the Polar Bear Plunge this weekend!!!
Anyone else ever do one?? The Kappa Sigs on our campus raised moneyfor the American Cancer Society to participate in the plunge, and they invited us to come and jump in too- I think there are about 5 Tri Deltas who are jumping in...don't know how many Kappa Sigs. I wish they would have invited us sooner, cause then I would raised money on my own. Here's the lowdown for tomorrow, Projected Air Temp: 63 and rainy Water Temp: 43 F (warmed up quicky...it usually isn't that warm yet) ETA: Wave Height: 2ft (not big enough to break out my surfboard, lol) |
Have you ever done this before? Are you going to wear just a bathing suit? Are you nuts? :p
Good luck with this, and don't get sick.:) |
They had one of these this year at our disgusting lake in the middle of campus this February. I wouldn't jump in that lake if you paid me, not because of the temp, but because it's so filthy  I think it was about 38 outside when they jumped... way too cold for me!

There's always one in Vancouver on new years day - I have yet to make it as I am usually not up; however I am sure diving into the Pacific Ocean in the middle of winter is a good way to recover from New Year's eve...
The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim Club is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Clubs in the world. Its first initial swim was in 1920 when a small number of hardy swimmers took the plunge into English Bay on New Year's Day. |
Yeah I was going to say that the polar bear dip has always happened on new years day here in Toronto too......
