500 Week
 

Beta Beta chapter will be having our annual 500 week starting Monday. 500 week is our chapter's philanthropy week. We usually have various activities to raise money for RMH. This year, we are having a Baby Date Auction (auction off baby pics of sisters w/ a gift certificate), the Mr. 500 Pageant, and 500 Games Day.

Mr. 500 is the best thing we do. We usually have tons of people show up to watch it. Basically you take 3 guys from each Fraternity and have them compete against one another Miss America style, evening wear, talent, questions, and best Nascar Trash outfit.

500 Games day is a new thing we are trying this year. We're going to have all the guys run relays against each other to win points. We'll also have other fun games like bobbing for lemons...

Aside from these events, we will be selling Racecars all week long. Our week is a competitive week so everything is based on a point system. The more money you give the more points you get.

I'll let you all know how much we raise when our week is over!

What does the 500 stand for or where did it come from??? Sounds neat!

Well, we're in South East Tennessee and Nascar is pretty big down here in the south. So (as far as I know) we got the "500" from races like the Daytona 500 ect...

The grand total for our first night of fundraising is $1,357! Our big day is coming Wednesday....

That really sounds like a fun idea!! Obviously, it's a winner in the financial department!

I realized tonight after reading something on another board that $1300 doesn't seem like much... so I'll explain about it being huge on my campus...

We have 3 other Sororities (only 1 participates in our week)
We have 6 Fraternities (2 are initiating guys this week, the other is having inter-chapter drama, so they can't fully participate)

So with the minimal participation we've had so far, $1300 is awesome. Also, today is the BIG day... The whole campus is getting involved.

I think $1300 is huuuuuuuuuge! For just the 1st night?!?! My chapter only raises that much total in an entire philanthropy event! It is going to a good cause! So $1 or $1 million is all the same to me!!!!
