I didn't get to see the pagent but I am so glad we were so favorably represented ... she was in the quill this time.

I am so happy for her! She was one of my favorites at the very beginning because she actually looked like a real person, not some barbie stick figure. It was great seeing Alpha Xi Delta represented so wonderfully!

4/14/2004 - Alpha Xi Delta Crowned First Runnerup in Miss USA Pageant Miss South Carolina Amanda Pennekamp, Newberry (SC) ’99, was crowned first runnerup in the Miss USA Pageant, held April 12 in Los Angeles. Amanda, who is a senior theater and speech communications major, is active in cheerleading, Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Fraternity and Blue Key Honor Fraternity. The Newberry College Theater is her second home, where she has played numerous roles including “Robin” in Godspell, a production for which she also assisted with the choreography alongside Vicki Saye Henderson, Newberry ’87. Amanda’s professional credits include appearances on the television programs Street Smarts, The King of Queens and Grounded for Life. She was in the film Juwanna Mann, and has appeared in Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle and YM as part of her work with the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency. In addition to winning her state’s crown, Amanda has held the titles of Newberry College Homecoming Queen, Indian Princess, Miss Sun Fun Myrtle Beach and Miss Lake Murray. “My sisters even nominated me to represent them in the Miss Newberry College Pageant when I was a freshman. I won, and it felt so great to represent Alpha Xi Delta. I have constantly had support and love from each of my Epsilon Iota sisters. They come to my pageants, sent notes of encouragement and welcome me with open arms after my victories.” |
