Gpa......

First off, I would like to say hello to all. I'm a junior in college and interested in joining your fine organization. I'm just curious if anyone knows how the gpa works. I went to a college, transferred to another, then transferred back. Overall, if you include my grades from both schools, I have the gpa I need. However, my college now only calculates the gpa you have on that campus and does not consider your transferred classes until calculating for honors at graduation. I guess my question is, does the gpa requirement go by the school you're attending, or all classes in general?

GPA calculation

You need to field that question to your registrar. Typically the bottom line is revealed in your official transcript.

BTW, meeting the GPA requirement is just one requirement for membership selection. Beating the GPA far above the minimum requirement is far more attractive if you are interested in pursuing membership.

Thnx

I know that goin far and above the minimum requirement is highly more attractive. My semesters improve each time, it's just that my first year was so low that it doesn't really show:( As far as the bottom line goes, the bottom line at my school is whatever classes I took there. The transfer classes *which would be an extremely big help* won't count at the school I'm at now until it comes time to calculate gpa for graduation purposes *honors and such*. I've been bustin my @$$ tryin to repair my gpa. Why does it seem like its been nowhere?

Once your GPA gets low, it takes a long time to get it back up, unfortunately.

When I was in college I use to always tell our interested young ladies, don't improve your GPA JUST because you want to pledge or "Rush". You're not in college to "Rush" anything, you're there to get an education. "Rushing" an organization is totally what you call an extra-curricular activity. But when you do "Rush", consider it another class. If you're taking 3 classes, include "Rushing" as your 4th! TRUST!!!!! But I wish you well and good luck to you! Make sure this is truly something you want to achieve and dear to your heart. God Bless!

Thanx

Thank you very much. I also need a 3.0 to get scholarships or else school won't be an option for a bit. I would like a 3.5 at least when I graduate in December '05. This semester looks great. I think I can pull of an A in most of my classes, and then I'm goin to summer school too. I think I'll get there. Thank you all for your responses.

Well, I'mma tell you how it was at my school and still is in my current graduate chapter. When it comes down to it, my sorors want to see what's on paper. They don't want any associated stories, etc., so the best thing you could do is wait until you are sure that you have the gpa regardless of which school, semester, etc they are looking at. There's no rush, if Zeta is in your heart and it's meant for you, there's always grad. Don't get caught up in that gotta do it undergrad stuff. Like one of my sorors already said, we go to school to be scholars and anything outside of that is extra and can wait.

Good luck in your endeavors.

Amen to that... What Zeta_Ace2003 said, if Zeta is in your heart and it is meant to be, it will happen. Coming from experience I know. I have been wanting to be a Zeta since I was 18 years old, Between transferring, having a child and being a mother.... and now back in school after 7 years finishing June 12th of this year, i became a Zeta on November 19, 2003........ and i did it grad chapter because we do not have an active chapter in which i am working on as we speak.. Good luck and remember, keep it in your heart and it will happen, it did for me...
