Oscars Delayed...

So could go here or in Entertainment..but this is more general...

In light of Janet's Baring of the Boob...the Oscars are delayed..I am sure most of us know that...

Well I got thinking about how I feel about it with some friends...and am not really sure what I think of it all...I mean...some don't really care. But others thought it really takes away from the fun element and others said it had to be....
So....

what do you think?

-I don't care
-Its needed
- It sucks

I'm going to have to go with I don't care.

Also people need to get over Janet's breast.

juniorgrrl 02-20-2004 05:07 PM

weren't they kind of early this year anyway? usually they're end of march early april

Kevin 02-20-2004 05:12 PM

I've never seen why the general public gives a crap about awards shows. As if I need someone else to tell me which movies and actors were good?

I'm capable of making my own decisions. Don't care about some overpaid prima donna getting a golden statue.

It's a 5 second delay, not like it's been pushed back or anything.

Unless you are at the Oscars with a TV you aren't going to notice any difference, it's only 5 seconds.

just another example of america's paranoia and overreaction with stuff

mmcat 02-21-2004 09:47 AM

agreed agreed...
five seconds aren't going to kill anyone.

Thanks, I was confused, too.

The FCC needs to chill.

PhiPsiRuss 02-23-2004 05:54 PM

They should delay it for 24 hours to edit the speeches down to 20 seconds each. Then the whole show can be seen in under an hour.

well..thats not really how i was thinking when I first read this..

and yeah..maybe i won't notice the diff..but i think it certainly will be much more fun if there was no delay and spontaneous stuff could happen. i bet that if last year they had a delay..that they would have cut out Adrian Brody's kiss on Halle Berry..and that added the schock element which was fun for sure.

Maybe because if the general public who goes to movies....likes to see what they liked get awarded...i didn't think they were making your decision for you here...awards shows are fun...a culminating experience...my friends and i have an oscar pool going on..but please don't think that makes me susceptible to what someone else choooses as the winner---its just fun!!

I agree with Schmeer. The Oscars are just about fun. But, I'm glad that I'm on the west coast this year and won't have to stay up till 1 AM to watch the show.

Peaches-n-Cream 02-24-2004 04:29 PM

I think that the delay is just to delete possible expletives and nudity, not content.

chideltjen 02-24-2004 04:57 PM

I heard that it was a 5 MINUTE delay. Not a 5 second.
I think it was in one of the articles I was reading on Yahoo about the Oscars screening the ads that are going to be shown during the night.

CardinalSM 02-25-2004 01:14 AM

when are the oscars?
