While I ordinarily have no problem with people discussing and defending their religious beliefs, proselytizing outside a church, mosque or synagogue is something I don't particularly care for.

I'm willing to listen to differing points of view, but you ain't gonna try and convert me. Besides, didn't they teach us never to discuss religion and politics with strangers?

Is he trying to incite a terrorist attack? IMO, this guy needs to be fired. Perhaps out of a cannon.

GP, who was a "Christian" until some "Christian" people told her that Catholics aren't "Christians" because they worship goats and women and all sorts of other bad stuff.

Nice... in grade school I was told that as Catholic, I was supposed to worship idols of the Virgin Mary while I was in the buff.

Can't base your entire view of a religion on the ramblings of a bunch of idiots. If that were so, anyone who turned to one of those Christian TV stations and watched the crap that they say, they'd renounce their faith as well.

Hey, I never went to a nice church like that one. ;)

To get back on topic, I just don't think evangelizing belongs on an airplane, or anywhere else you can't leave voluntarily.

I believe in strong religious institutions that are there to help individuals but I am very worried often of group religion. I see that as Mao's poison and this clearly qualifies as it. When I feel so incredibly uncomfortable walking down a street when I know 5 guys with loudspeakers are going to hand me religious fliers, I know I will feel even worse on a plane where I am already INCREDIBLY uncomfortable without enough room, screaming babies, late takeoffs, etc.

-- On topic, I think what the pilot did was very unprofessional. In any profession, there is a certain standard that you should hold yourself to.

If you don't know better, go back to rush.. Two subjects you never discuss with strangers are politics and religion. As for professional contact... well.. duh..

The most compelling argument I can think of for giving him the axe is that if he's stupid enough to open his fat mouth like that, do you want him in charge of the plane that you are flying in?

I heard about this last night on the news and think it's just INSANE! American Airlines won't be my #1 choice for my next flight, that's for sure.

Lucky I wasn't on that flight! I would have told him where he could go!

Did you run into my southern Baptist family??

My grandfather once told my mother (the catholic) that she was an idolitor and was going to hell. And told me that even though my mother was evil I should love her because she is my mother.
