Formal Recruitment at UNC-Pembroke

Hi,

One of my oldest and dearest friends is going through recruitment at UNC-Pembroke this term. The sign-up is on Monday, and she'll have a lot more information for me after she's signed up.

So far there are only two NPC organizations on campus, two NPHC organizations, and quite a few locals. She's not sure whether locals participate in formal recruitment. Does anyone out there have any inside scoop on how recruitment is organized at Pembroke?

The two NPC organizations on campus are Sigma Sigma Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha.

Hi Sistermadly,

"The Pine Needle," UNC-Pembroke's student paper, has an article about spring formal recruitment. Not extremely detailed, but the schedule and some facts are given. The story can be found by going to the link below, clicking on "Entertainment," and then clicking on the link to the formal rush story
(You can also do a Google search; I just typed in "panhellenic pembroke' -- without the quotes.)

http://www.uncp.edu/pineneedle/

The schedule:

Feb 9 -- mandatory orientation

Then events -- including "skits and theme parties"-- in increasingly long time slots:

Feb 10 -- 6 - 7:35 pm

Feb 11 -- 6-8:35 pm

Feb 12 -- 6-9:30 pm

All events are in the "U.C.," whatever that is -- maybe their student union?

Approximately 30 rushed last year and Panhellenic is quoted as hoping for more this year.

Best wishes for your friend!

We had a UC - it stands for University Center. You're correct - it's essentially a student union building.

Thanks for the context, exlurker! I hope to hear from her tomorrow with some details! :)

An Update of Sorts

Hi,

My friend decided not to go through recruitment. She didn't feel that she could compete with the more traditional students (read younger women) who usually go through recruitment.

HOWEVER.. one organization on campus did not make total during recruitment and is holding COB events - and she plans to attend. I'll keep you posted (if you're interested).
