Suggestions Please: Gifts for Seasoned Man

A soror is giving her father a surprise b-day party. Her father will be in the 65+ club. He's like a father-figure, what should I purchase as a gift?

He likes music, photography, traveling (domestic and abroad)...

A few suggestions

Find out what kind of music he likes. CDs are a very good gift. I know this because my late father was a "seasoned man" and music lover (jazz/classical), LOL.

Photography: A masculine frame in metal or wood would be good.

Also, see if there's any sort of travel accessory he may need, such as a travel guide or something like that.

My dad is "seasoned" and LOVES him some Marvin Gaye. I went to Amazon and bought a few VHS tapes of Marvin in concert. He LOVED them.....OMG he loved them.

Good Question...

Some suggestions would include;

1. Ethnic Arts (paintings, sculptures, mask, etc.)

2. Books or magizine subscriptions

3. Tickets to an upcoming concert, play, game, etc.

4. Nice watch (wish someone would buy me a new one:( )

5. An engraved object that only you and him would know about its importance and/or value.

Hope this helps.

Why not try to combine his interests into one gift? A really nice Black & White print of one of his favorite artists in a masculine frame would be nice. Or maybe frame a vintage album cover of that same artist. Another good idea is to buy him some male accessories like a really nice pair of cufflinks, a pocketwatch, an engraved lighter or pen set, or something along those lines.

GC's

I know some people do not like to buy or receice gift certificates, but that's my suggestion. Home Depot, A man's dept store, a music store.

you've gotten some good suggestions....

Try an upscale luggage store like Mori's and see what you can find. I've seen little "kits" with a nice cashmere blanket, slumber mask, slippers, and a neck pillow for travel. A nice leather passport cover would be cool too.

Don't forget to tell us what you got!

Which reminds me....**going to bring a thread from Christmas to the top**

I have a couple of weeks to decide. I'll let you know what I purchase.

if you have one in your area...

Brookstone is a nice place to go. You may come across some nice gadgets that may compliment his hobbies.
