Phi Beta Kappa members?

I just found out that I have been elected to Phi Beta Kappa--the nation's oldest Greek-letter society.

Are there any other members on GC?

I am. Be sure to talk it up in job interviews. Whenever I did my interviewers were impressed.

I did not make Phi Beta Kappa at Texas but my wife was a member at Vanderbilt.

Congrats! That is a great accomplishment! :D

I'm not a member but my mom is...she was elected to membership while at University of Illinois.

Congrats! Elon doesn't have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, but I'm on a committee to bring one to campus! Hopefully within the next 5 years our school will have a chapter (even though I won't be here to join!).

Congratulations!

Which style of key are you getting?

Congratulations, breathesgelatin! I'm a member of Phi Beta Kappa. It's quite an honor to be elected prior to your final semester! What year are you?

I'm a second semester junior!

IvySpice 02-10-2004 12:55 AM

A junior? WOW!! Each chapter has its own policies, but in my chapter, it was a GIGANTIC big deal to be elected junior year. 10% of the class was chosen eventually, but the junior electees comprised less than one-sixth of the PBK members in each class -- in other words, they were in the top 2% of the college class, a smaller group than the summa cum laudes. I hope they're throwing you a big party down at Pi Phi, because you've definitely earned it!

Congrats W&L is a great school I was admitted ,and almost went to W& L Law School but stayed closer to home at SMU. Darned fine to make Phi Beta Kappa as a Jr.
