Community Service
 

I just have a quick question about my amount of community service. I have always done community service throughout high school. But, my freshman year in college I didn't do any. I didn't have any reliable means of transportation and more importantly, I wanted to focus on my grades. I do have a 3.96 gpa. I am volunteering over this summer and will continue volunteering when I get back to school. After all of this, my question is will the absence of community service throughout my entire freshman year negatively affect my chances of becoming a member?

I have read several posts that inquire about COMMUNITY SERVICE. I truly hope that WE ALL are doing community service for the IMPROVEMENT OF THE COMMUINITY. Yes, I do have an interest of becoming affiliated with a sorority..BUT I made a commitment to performing community service A LONG TIME AGO and I will continue to serve as long as there is compassion in my heart and strength in my bones.

My sentiments exactly. Greek organizations should be an organized body by which you are exposed to and can participate in various kinds of services.... you shouldn't do a service and say "Ooh! That's enough for me to put in my letter!" AKA is a lifelong process, except for those who strive to be letter wearers and tag bearers.
