American Justice????

Hello All, This is my first time posting on GreekChat.

Yesterday two men were released from prison after serving 13 years for a murder they did not committ. The prosecution's key witness confessed that she testified to receive $1000 in reward money.

We know that there are probably many others who were jailed because of one false witness. My question to you is what should be the fate of this witness?

My opinion, the "witness" should serve the same time in jail that the accused spent.

First of all welcome to GreekChat.

I definitely think the witness should be held accountable for his/her actions.

I believe that the judicial system provides a form of sanction to persons whom have committed such perjerous crimes. What's so interesting here is that someone else's freedom was taken away for $1000. That's truly appalling.

Appalling, indeed. There is no telling how much these people could have contributed to society during the last 13 years. They have been robbed of their freedom and a big portion of their lives. I hope there is at least some type of restitution they can receive.

If MsOnyx is talking about a crime that took place in NYC, that witness is now dying of AIDS. It was reported that she confessed because she wanted to die with a clear conscience.

I don't think they brought her up on any perjury charges. However, I don't think they will.
