Did I Miss Something?

While I was out for lunch today, the dj on the radio mentioned something about Shaquille O'Neal apologizing to Aaliyah. He said that Shaq was quoted as stating that he has been intimate with a number of women and Aaliyah was one of them. Aaliyah denied having a sexual relationship with Shaq and was offended by his comments so Shaq had to retract his statement. Shaq was supposedly just kidding, bu Aaliyah didn't see it as a joke. Neither would I!

CrimsonTide4 05-10-2001 04:03 PM

Not only that but he said the same thing about Venus Williams and Cindy Crawford. I subscribe to www.blackrumors.com and they told me.

I found the post:
Did he lie?

R&B star Aaliyah has demanded an apology from LA
Lakers basketball star and sometime rapper Shaquille
O'Neal who has claimed he slept with her. O'Neal was
asked by a radio DJ in Los Angeles if he'd ever had
sex with a celebrity. He named Cindy Crawford, Aailyah
and tennis champ Venus Williams. Crawford has denied
the claims and, while Aailyah hasn't commented, an
unnamed friend says, 'It's an absolute lie.' She
demanded Shaq write an apology. 'He's disgusting,
making up lies,' she says.

Aaliyah, who it was alleged married R&B singer R Kelly
when only 15 years of age, has been busy in recent
months filming. Earlier this year she was confirmed as
one of the lead characters in the Matrix 2.

Late last year ther single Try Again from the movie
Romeo Must Die topped the charts on both sides of the
Atlantic, reaching No 1 in the US on airplay alone
before its release in the shops.

Shaq's manager Cynthia Atterberry has written to the
weekly gossip sheet, The Star in the US which first
printed the comments, denying any truth in Shaq's
remarks. 'They were made in jest,' says Atterberry.

Tennis star Venus Williams condemned Shaquille O'Neal
for remarks the Lakers center made recently on a Los
Angeles radio station in which he said he slept with
Williams – remarks O'Neal admitted Monday were not
true and meant as a joke.

O'Neal reiterated Tuesday that he had made the whole
thing up, offering a public apology to all three
women.

"I categorically and unequivocally deny that I have
ever had a sexual relationship with Shaquille O'Neal,"
Williams' statement began. "I don't even know him.
I've only met Shaquille once a few years ago, when
attending an L.A. Lakers game. If Shaquille made the
statement as a joke, it was in very bad taste, and I
am definitely offended. I think that he should use
better judgment in the future, particularly where
one's reputation is concerned."

O'Neal told Los Angeles' Power 106-FM last week that
he had slept with Williams, model Cindy Crawford and
rap star Aaliyah. Crawford and Aaliyah also denied
O'Neal claims.

My husband was watching the sports channel last night and they were talking about it. Shaq was quoted saying that he had sex with Cindy Crawford, Aaliyah and Venus Williams. (he's versatile)

Obviously, it was untrue. He was shown on TV apologizing for his statement and said is was all false and that he was just trying to be funny.

HA. HA. I see no humor in that.

CrimsonTide4 - we must have been posting at the same time - hence the repition in our posts.

My mama heard this on Tom Joyner yesterday. She said Shaq said in some interview that he had kissed Cindy Crawford and Venus Williams. I hadn't heard about Aaliyah. But anyway, the women got really upset about it, and Shaq later came back and said he was only joking. I agree... NOT FUNNY. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

Okay, guess I was posting at the same time, too! Happens when so many folks are GC addicts, I suppose. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

It really isn't.

How would he like it if someone were to publically "belittle" his manhood?

the411 05-10-2001 04:15 PM

Clearly Shaq "ain't that somebody."

they were joking about this on Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update". Their "reporter" said: "Cindy Crawford denies allegations that she had sexual relations with LA Lakers star Shaquille O'neal. We all find that hard to believe since Cindy's body has reportedly been seen cut in half (in two pieces)."

LMAO!! He for sure would have to lie about me, cause I wouldn't even subject myself to that kinda risk, if ya know what I'm sayin. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

MeezDiscreet 05-10-2001 05:54 PM

this is what i read on an internet gossip column (i won't post the whole thing so as not to seem repetitive):

"My sources inform me that there have been stories circulating by women who supposedly have slept with the 7foot, 315 pound, basketball star and his inadequate performance in bed, which is a speculated reason for Shaq's lies."

CocoaCaramel 05-10-2001 06:44 PM

In his pre game interview (last game) he apologized to all of the women and said that it was just a joke. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif He also sang a song to venus apologizing. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

nikki25 05-16-2001 12:22 AM

Come on Now....That was really in poor taste. Shaq needs a little more "polish" because that was truly not an act of class. It was not funny http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif...definitely not worthy of a smirk.

Ladies, I have to come to the defense of my Frat Brother. Shaq has been a victim of bad reporting. What he said looks bad on paper but if you heard the tenor and the context in which it was said, you would know that it just a humorous and harmless comment that no one who heard it would take seriously (not even the women mentioned). No woman wants her reputation besmirched, but this was a tabloid media creation.
Sorry DoggyStyle, that ain't flyin' with me. Did you actually hear the radio interview? I was on another message board and SEVERAL people there (who live in California and actually heard the interview) thought that Shaq was just being indiscreet, not humorous. Oh yeah, and if that's your frat brother's idea of being humorous, I hope you advise him not to quit his day job!! Steve Harvey and nem ain't got nothing to worry about!!

DELTABRAT 05-16-2001 01:25 PM

Yeah, that wasn't funny. Actually my mouth was on the ground. I live in LA and was listening to the station when he said it. It is like a celebrity game where Big Boy asks the most outrageous questions, thinking the player will "tap out" and he will get to keep his money. Shaq was like "Heck naw." The questions kept coming and he kept answering.

He also said that he would like to sleep with Beyonce if he had the chance and that he's cheated on his girlfriend that previous Sunday (this was like a Tuesday morning."

He also said that he "pleasured himself" every night while on the road. I think if people actually HEARD the show, that it would have been obvious that he was joking (well I won't say joking, but not serious) because his answers were really spontaneous and the fact that he would publicly say he cheated on his girl two days prior was like "Okay Shaq, you are doing too much." I do agree however, that when other's reputations are on the line, more thought needs to be put into it. Now her looks like an a$$, really, he does.

He also denied rumors of having "relations" with Kobe's wife. Now I have to wonder...dang Shaq.
